I try to stay here every time I come to darwin for convenience, location and service. On returning for an to darwin on the night (23/06/2020), my elderly mother was Victimised and denied the use of the toilet within the hotel and upon my arrival at the reception desk told me and my mother that we could not stay at your hotel. I doubt there were more than ten people booked for the night in the entire hotel. Me and my mother are aboriginal first a.. I will never stay at your hotels ever again. In this modern time I cannot believe this happened to us and was the most dreadful experience to endure. My mother soiled herself in the car park as we had been treated disgustingly. The Asian staff member also called her boyfriend to come to the hotel car park and degrade us on her behalf....

As always the welcoming and staff are friendly and great, however due to Covid-19, it seems that higher Management refuse to all the manager of the Mantra on the Esplanade to have his cleaning team back and certain aspects of the hotel still require cleaning on a daily basis. For example the elevators.

Took 45 mins from first arriving to finally get into my room first 10-15 mins I was standing alone in the foyer, it was just after 2pm had to call through the website and still no one came before I had to go and pick up my wife and come back (was gone for 5 mins max) the woman was finally there and serving someone else then finally served me but I had to wait while she served others then went to check my room before I could go to my room. probably not her fault but I found it very frustrating that at the check in time listed 2pm there was insufficient staff to take less than 45 mins to check in a guest. Got to room a bit old and tired have stayed in nicer cheap hotels in Bali. property is listed as having cable tv channels, however they are not working on the TV The shower in my room you had to turn the hot on full or else it made an ear piercing scream and then turn the cold right up while you burnt the crap out of your arm. Aircons very cold which is generally good in Darwin however when you only put a sheet and very thin quilt that doesn't cover the whole bed on it gets uncomfortable and then have to find the other blanket in the middle of the night. Unfortunately I have sleep apnoea so need to sleep with a machine, unfortunately I could not plug it in because there was only one power point very close to the floor which my plug did not go into. It is 2020 there should be a power board or something so that people can plug their phones etc into. We then speak to our friends who were checked in in a couple of minutes and got upgraded for no particular reason. Very disappointing and I wish I had have chosen a different hotel at this time, I can handle an old dated room if the rest of the experience is good but to be pretty much kept waiting like that and then find all the problems I have identified makes me feel like you are just relying on the one redeeming feature the location.

We did find the aircon too cold initially. We turned it off but we’re still cold. Didn’t realise there were 2 switches. Reception were kind enough to drop by and turned off the 2nd switch. This made it better, still a bit cool. Otherwise great stay. Staff were friendly and courteous.

Full price paid for room with sea view. Tiny glimpse of sea only. View was looking over street and rooftop of pub. Street noise was very annoying. Other guests partying also very noisy.

I understand my stay was directly after Covid travel restrictions and many hotels reopening however full price for no service was disappointing. I was not aware of the limited service until after I had checked in and paid. Made for a miserable birthday experience that was already a low point due to previous plan cancellations and no friends or family visiting due to covid.

Location was as expected and central to the CBD, pubs and restaurants. Internally the unit was very dated. Kitchen cupboard falling off hinge. Loud squealing noise from bathrooms taps in ensuite. Overall decor dated. For over $300/night for a family room, expected a lot more. Did not get a view of the sunset as promised in write up. Overall disappointing.

Stayed 2 nights on short notice and was impressed with the good price (in light of current world situation) and good views of the ocean. Unfortunate that there was only one staff looking after the whole place and no kitchen to order room service from but considering this, the single staff member did incredibly well.

After having to sign form not to have a party we were situated across the hall from a group of young fellas partying. It was low occupancy so why put old people who just want a good nights sleep opposite a young group who dont? Answer because the hotel just doesnt care

The hotel is perfectly located and has lovely views over the park and harbour. The room was very comfortable but the plumbing was a bit noisy.

Unfortunately i stayed during the covid-19 situation however I found the lack of communication and service disappointing compared to my last stay at the Mantra.

We arrived very late at night and staff were welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable. Well equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. Wifi was not great though :-( Great location. Would stay again.
