The reception staff were excellent, considering the lack of staff due to COVID19. There was a letter in our room explaining they would not be making up our room during our 2 night stay and there was not enough linen to go around and we found there was no top sheet on our bed. We also noticed some broken and damaged light fittings in the hallway near the lift, and the Spa was out of service with a sign saying "this is not a Spa" but it looked like it used to be a spa with seats around the side and water jet fittings around the side.

Our families stayed for a week. The rooms were comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful, great location to access supermarkets and restaurants, lovely views from the balcony, lovely pool which was always clean and well kept. Our only disappointment was the lack of sufficient bedding. We were informed a few days into our stay that there were linen issues. We heard of other guests that were not provided with one towel per guest so we were very fortunate to have both a bath and pool towel each.

Everything perfect except for no flexibility in regard to moving booking one day forward which should have been free but cost us nearly $500 to do that. We love staying at the Mantra but thought that was unethical. We also heard many similar stories to ours asking that total bookings be cancelled & re-booked at the customers expense. In our case, we had no choice but to accept Mantra’s terms. No top sheets on beds, no complaints from us. Paying the inflated price for changing booking by one night & getting the wrong bed configuration & loosing our ocean view, again no complaints from us. So come on Mantra, please check what we have been charged & do the right thing.

We had a great few days at the Mantra. The air con needs attention as the unit was freezing but we left it off for 2 days and it was alright then. Great staff.

The hotel is tired and old. Repairs and maintenance have not been done since the hotel was built 30 years ago. Only one sheet per bed. Bookings of less than 7 days will incur a housekeeping fee if you want your room cleaned. Only 1 wine glass and 1 drinking glass. No inside table. No lift security. Bathroom exhaust fan clogged with dust particles and not working. This was uncomfortable waiting for the removal of toilet odours. Mildrew on balcony walls and paint peeling off balcony walls. Balcony furniture falling apart. No restaurant for AccorPlus members. Absolutely appalling accommodation. Photos were sent to the Mantra Group and Accor Plus.

I have stayed at the mantra in past years and was surprised to find that the reception had relocated and another hotel business was sharing the area. It was acknowledged that Darwin has a problem cleaning linen so we were required to call reception when noticing a lack of linen in the room. Vick was good on check in and explained staff shortages. The room was good and very clean. Disappointing there is no longer a bar, dining room, buffet etc. I needed to remind staff of the complimentary wine and water Accor customers receive.

The Hotel was quiet and staff were welcoming and located in town.

Arrived had a shower no towels, bed had only one sheet I asked some other hotels they had two!!!!! Pay for hotel a week in advance still couldn’t get a proper tax invoice ??? Received only a proforma tax invoice not good enough you pay for something you get a tax invoice!

We generally stay at this hotel when in Darwin. It is located within an easy walk to the main street and the staff are very friendly. The room sizes suit our needs when travelling alone or with other people

Strange not having daily servicing in a 3-4 star hotel, nor any food services. However I did not miss this, as it was a two night stay, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The convenience of th3 location and the wonderful view make up for a lot. However, I was dismayed to find my bed made up without a top sheet, just a light blanket, which I’m sure is not washed for every guest. Although I understand economies have to be made due to covid and staff shortages, this is going a bit too far. The front desk did give me a top sheet willingly as soon as I asked. (By the way, I hate the fashion of putting room cushions on the bed. I like to see a bed made up with just clean linen. This is not just your hotel, a lot of hotels do it, - puf cushions on the bed -although a lot now don’t) The desk staff were great and helpful, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Lack of Facilities, Needs work

Staff are pleasant and willing to help, it just seems this venue is either forgotten or poorly run. Obviously the lack of food options is due to the recovery post COVID and staff shortages but the hotel desperately needs work. Rooms look tired and most have damage in various areas. I was in room 819. Rusted screws in shower, chipped bath, skirting in wardrobe obviously water damaged, only bottom sheet on bed, no other linen, towel shortage. We also had a fire evacuation and the exit was blocked by overgrown trees and meant walking of the path. Considering the amount that was charged for a corporate rate there are other options in Darwin for the same price or cheaper.

On arrival advised issue with linen and all 4 rooms not ready, went out for drinks , returned and beds made up, unfortunately didn't realise that no towels had been dropped off until after had shower. Air conditioner in room very noisy and temperature fluctuated throughout the stay. Had booked three family rooms with ocean views and due to availability one with a city view. One of the ocean view rooms was on level 1 and only had view of palm trees, the city view room had view of the backpackers that had beach party each and every day of stay, no ones fault just the location. Didn't realise until we had booked in that there was no restaurant or breakfast on site, staff were quite happy to advise the location of facility 6 blocks away, fortunately found a great little place 50m from hotel. The hotel was reasonably clean but just dated. It is in great location for Mitchell street and the hotels and clubs, if you are looking for something more refined go the Waterfront Precinct.

great apartments with everything you could need for a short or long stays with the family i could not recommend this enough. staff were really great to deal with and very helpful so thank you- close to town and shops what ever you need it is all walking distance - there is also electric scooters out the front of the hotel allowing you access to all of the darwin CBD

Disappointed and Expensive

I am an Accor Member and where possible always stay at their hotels, as in most cases I am very happy with value and service but not this time! I booked this hotel in Darwin, and paid the premium price with Accor, above same quality hotels on which were cheaper. However, what a disappointment, after riding 4 hours on a motorbike we arrived at the hotel only to find, that there were no facilities available - No Bar - No Food - No Coffee - No Restaurant - No anything The drink vouchers were given to me and water and coke was in a tiny fridge on the reception desk. What I am most disappointed about wasn’t that the above wasn’t available, as I am aware of what COVID is doing to the industry, BUT at no point was this mentioned prior to the booking, which gave me the impression that I have just been taken advantage of. As mentioned, it wasn’t so much paying the inflated price, but not being told that these facilities were not available, they don’t even have anyone serving coffee in the morning let alone Breakfast. I will be back in Darwin in March with the team however I doubt very much that MANTRA Darwin will see me again! Please NOTE – The above isn’t a reflection on the staff, they were good
