Made to feel very welcome as soon as we stepped up to the reception desk. We speak no French and the team were very patient in trying to understand them as well as them understanding us. The room was very nice indeed, even though the toilet was a bit compact and awkward to close the door. The restaurant service was very good and the food was excellent and very tasty. The hotel is situated right across the street from the fresh produce market and some very well patronised cafes, in just a short walk it was easy to get to the town’s ramparts and have an excellent view of the surrounding countryside

I woke up at approximately 3:30 a.m. in an extremely hot room and tried to open the window for fresh air, but the noise from the city street-cleaning engines was overwhelmingly loud and made it impossible to rest. Although other rooms were available, I was not provided with a fan or offered a room change because they were not in the same category as my current room. I waited approximately five hours before the front desk offered to check my room temperature, but no meaningful solution was provided. I was simply told to remain in the room until a same-category room became available. What was most disappointing was the lack of empathy or apology. The front desk repeatedly emphasized that available rooms were in a different category rather than making a genuine effort to resolve the problem. I felt dismissed, unsupported, and disrespected throughout the interaction. After almost seven hours, following an approximately 30-minute heated exchange with the employee, my room was finally changed and key handed to me like a 🏆. It should never have taken seven hours and a confrontation to address a basic guest comfort issue. This experience significantly affected my stay and fell far below the level of hospitality I expected. A fan, temporary room change, clearer communication, or simply some empathy and acknowledgment could have made a significant difference. Instead, what should have been a comfortable stay became an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience.

We fully understand that a room that was too warm, combined with external noise during the night, may have significantly disrupted your rest. We also regret that, in these circumstances, you did not feel that you received the level of attention, care, and support that we strive to provide to each of our guests. Guest satisfaction and comfort are at the heart of our team’s daily work. Our colleagues are committed every day to being available, attentive, and to finding the most appropriate solutions for each individual situation. We are therefore particularly sorry that, during this incident, you felt that your concerns were not sufficiently taken into consideration. Regarding your stay, our hotel was fully booked that night, which unfortunately meant that we were unable to offer you another room temporarily. We would, of course, have been happy to provide this option had a room been available. The following morning, we were able to speak with you directly and discuss the situation you had experienced during the night. Your stay was also already scheduled to include a room change due to the extension of your reservation. On that occasion, we wanted to offer you a higher-category room so that you could continue your stay in the best possible conditions. This upgrade was therefore offered to you as a gesture of goodwill, in consideration of the inconvenience you had experienced. We sincerely regret that this gesture and the solutions that were ultimately put in place did not help to ease your disappointment. Nevertheless, your feedback is valuable to our team and will help us continue improving the way we handle and communicate in such situations, with the same goal we have every day: to provide our guests with the most comfortable and enjoyable stay possible. Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you experienced. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with an experience that fully meets your expectations and reflects the level of care we strive to offer to each of our guests. What a lovely hotel, with really friendly and helpful staff. The room was very clean and a perfect temperature and the breakfast was just what we needed. We only chose Angouleme because it was halfway between two places on a long journey, but we were very pleasantly surprised by how lovely the town was (with really good restaurants). I definitely want to go back again for longer!

Great location in the heart of the old quarter and a fabulous building with history. Reception are, lounge and bar very nice. Garden is terrific but seems wasted as there was never anyone using it. Parking good. On booking, the reservation said the room would be available from 1200, but we checked in at 1245 and the room was not ready till around 13:30 - don't offer a service then fail to provide. Room adequate, but could have done with moisturiser in the bathroom.
