The stay was very pleasant, I have seen the hotel when it was a very aged Mercure and now it has been a big improvement. The discount in the neighbouring restaurants (Boucherie, Leon de Bruxelles) is a very positive thing, which we discovered by chance. Good breakfast for the hotel category and especially for the price of the room, and very friendly staff. The only problem is the air at the toilets in the ground floor, which needs ventilation due to a probably old pipeline system without syphons.

Boring breakfast. Bad checkout experience.

We stayed for a week (from Wednesday to Wednesday). The breakfast contained the same ingredients each day. The sweet part was plenty but the hearty part was limited to 2 sorts of cheese, cooked ham and a boiled egg (if you boil it yourself which is tough when it's crowdy in that cramped corner). No bacon, no dried sausages, no raw ham. At checkout the first payment attempt came back with an error while it was registered on my app. I showed it to the checkout clerk but she wanted to try again and ensured me that the amount would not be reserved on my credit card twice.... except, the next day I noticed it *did*!!! I know (I hope) only one of the two reserved amounts will actually be claimed but the reservations expiration date is still about 2 weeks from now. In the mean time, that credit is blocked for me!!! I tried to rectify this with two phone calls and 2 emails to no avail. It is still reserved double. Lesson learned for me I guess.

Hotel was clean and welcome. Room was as expected. Breakfast on both mornings was not fully ready by the opening time, as a consequence I could not enjoy a full breakfast choice before I had to leave.
