We enjoyed our stay in this hotel, which was well-located and fairly quiet. A particular plus point was that we were able to have connecting rooms for our family. We also enjoyed the food, both at dinner and breakfast.

I chose Novotel Nottingham Derby for its location and because a good night’s sleep was important, even paying extra for an Executive Premium Room. The location was great, but the room was hot and extremely noisy. There was air conditioning, but I chose not to use it because switching it on only added even more noise on top of the already loud ventilation. As a result, I barely slept. Very disappointing for a premium room booked specifically for comfort.

The bedroom is super comfortable and the AC ensure the room is cool. Better efforts need to be made by the kitchen for the dinner service - it took over 30 minutes for the dinner arrive, and although I could see there are other customers, it wasn't busy enough to justify why it took so long. Member of staff did not explain this and service staff just stood around the bar.

We had an amazing experience during our stay. Adam at the reception was exceptionally courteous, welcoming, and professional, making the check-in process smooth and pleasant. The rooms allocated to my family and me were clean, comfortable and well-maintained, with excellent air conditioning that made our stay even more enjoyable. The room was comfy and the air conditioning worked well in the current hot climate. It was OK for a one night business stay, we did not eat dinner at the hotel but had breakfast. There was a bizarre policy that if you booked breakfast before midnight it was £9.95 or after midnight £13.95, I have never come across that before. Also, when we went for breakfast, the quality of the food was poor, only scrambled eggs on offer, it was a buffet breakfast and we found it very disappointing and wish we had not spent the nearly £20.00 on it. The hotel is in a great location for the M1 and East Midlands airport.

Room doors slam shut making a loud noise which is bad enough during the day but disturbing at night and wake you up early in the morning, an easy fix is to use the two or three adjustment screws on the six of the door closers so that the final part of the closure is slower and therefore far quieter, I did notice that a door leading to the stairs had oil streaks running down the door, this is due to failure of the door closers and needs replacing. The green emergency light indicator in the ceiling just inside the room whilst require is quite bright lighting up the the room I appreciate that this is not something that can be easily remedied but should be considered when opening new hotels or refurbishing older ones. Cleanliness, overall the room was pretty clean, at first glance the windows are clean but on closer inspection the edges especially the corners of the glass units and the white uPVC frame are particularly dirty and require attention. The toilet roll holder was loose.

Stayed here for the weekend as we were attending an event nearby. Hotel was lovely, clean & comfortable. Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast on the first day (Saturday morning) wasn’t super warm but was much better the next couple of days. One point for improvement about the rooms as well is there were only 2 accessible power outlets & the one nearer the kettle was too high up for the lead to reach, so we had to plug the kettle in on the floor by the bed to boil it! Other than those 2 minor points, it was a great stay & I would visit here again.

Stayed recently for Download Festival and the hotel is great, the staff are very lovely but the other guests were so inconsiderate - shouting in corridors late at night, having parties in their rooms and generally being dreadful
