The single lift was out of order, ‘but that’s ok, you only have to walk up two flights of stair’ quoting reception. No offer to help with my heavy bag and not very H&S conscious asking guests, often with large bags, to carry them upstairs. No offer of assistance, I am surprised that’s nobody has lost their balance and fallen. Room was nicely refurbished, although the first room I was allocated smelt of stale cigarette smoke. Reception moved me promptly but that involved me using the stairs again with my bags. Room was generally clean. However, the breakfast room service card was still completed from the last guest,

I often visit and Alison is always a friendly, helpful and welcoming face I'm happy to see! One thing for improvement on this trip was empty hand soap in the bathroom that had been missed.

Lift wasn;t working which wasn;t ideal but had very helpful and friendly female staff. Comfortable stay and breakfast was good.
