Great location and fog friendly but terrible sleep

November 28th Stayed for the wife's birthday but was supposed to stay for 2 but for a mess up by me (the man on reception sorted it out for us and was great). Was glad we didn't as the mattress was terrible! The lifts were great and fast, the corridors have been touched up from the lumpy carpet. The room was fine except for looking a bit tatty in places and the tvs still the same outdated ons for the past 15 years. Broken sleep as the mattress was like sleeping on a rock, were both in our 50s and it made every problem with my knees and feet and the wife's back come back ten fold, had to take 4 painkillers to get some rest but was still up at 07:00 in pain to walk the dog. Yep its dog friendly hotel which was great news as is the location near the train station and city center.

Given a double room which was actually 2 single beds. The TV was so small and underneath looked like they were doing repairs and forgot a piece. The place was a mess. No customer service. No check in desk. Have to do it at the bar and as an ex alcoholic I found that triggering for me. Guy running it didn't seem interested inly serving other customers. I ordered food and collected from reception because there is no phone in the room for them to ring you or vice versa. But anyway picked up my good went upstairs to my room and my key didn't work in the door. So I have had to travel.all the way back downstairs to be triggered again by the bar and get my keycard remagnetised. By then when I finally got to my room the food was cold! Having a shower in the morning and the head on the shower had broken so it wouldn't raise any. Bearing in mind in nearly 6 foot. I had to duck down to take a shower and wash my hair. This was unacceptable for the price of 96.30 its ridiculous

My recent stay at this hotel had some positive moments, but overall it fell short of what I had hoped for. Although the staff were polite and the location was convenient, the room itself felt uncomfortably small which made it difficult to settle in. The layout was also more complicated than expected, so even simple tasks like finding certain switches or working out how things operated took longer than they should have. One of the biggest concerns was the water. It had a very unpleasant taste which made it impossible to drink, so I had to rely on bottled water throughout my stay. The toilet also struggled to flush properly, which was inconvenient and not what you expect from a functioning guest room. The bed was another issue as it wasn’t particularly comfortable. The mattress felt uneven which made it hard to get a proper night’s sleep. The air conditioning system didn’t help either because it only produced warm air rather than cool air, leaving the room stuffy at times. While the hotel has potential and the staff seem willing to help, the facilities need updating to ensure guests feel comfortable. With some improvements the hotel could offer a much better experience, but for now my stay was not as relaxing or enjoyable as I had hoped.

Location is fantastic, right in the centre and just a 5 minute walk to the station. Room was fresh and clean, plenty of bedding/towels. Only one lift was working which made it a bit busy especially during the mornings when housekeeping are using it, but taking the stairs wasn't a problem for us. Shame there wasn't an option to pay for any WiFi.

Dear Lauren D., Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We are delighted to hear that you appreciated our prime location and found value in your stay. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by the limited lift access during peak times and appreciate your understanding. As for the WiFi, we currently do not offer a paid option as our policy provides complimentary access to guests throughout the hotel. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
