Overall, really disappointing. I booked a junior suite for where we would arrive after I proposed to my partner. Had made that clear in the booking and in contact with reservations. Weirdly, no acknowledgment of this. Other guests checking in privately received sparkling wine on arrival, but not us. We were not allowed to take afternoon tea the next day and were told it had to be on the day of arrival. When we got there, there was no food left and the matcha was awful. When we arrived for apero chic, we couldn’t find a seat, and once sat we weren’t served drinks for 40 minutes. Eventually I asked for two drinks just so I didnt need to find a server again. Whenever we phoned for an amenity, it would take some time to arrive, and we often had to call more than once. One of the water bottles in our room had already been opened - I called to ask for this to be changed and was advised that this would not be complimentary (note that club members get free 250ml bottles so this was incorrect but I couldn’t be bothered to argue so we just had tap water) The room was nice, with lots of comfortable space, the shower pressure was quite poor but the bathroom was large and the double sink makes for great efficiency. We enjoyed the bath tub. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept well - this was probably the best bit! The pool is ruined by the fact there there’s construction noise, tradies and cranes everywhere Overall, this is billed as a luxury experience but the service is lacking and the fine touches that make a special occasion worth booking here were completely missing. Most well run hotels would note a booking note like ‘proposal / engagement’ and curate a slightly elevated experience. This was not the case but perhaps more than anything, it was the lack of high quality service for the basic things we had paid for.
