I stayed at Swissôtel Nankai Osaka as an Accor Platinum member and unfortunately the experience did not meet the expectations of a five-star hotel. Upon arriving at around 2:30 PM, I approached the reception and was immediately told that check-in only starts at 3:00 PM and that I could leave my luggage first. It was only after I mentioned that I was an Accor Platinum member that I was allowed to proceed to the check-in counter. This was quite embarrassing and certainly not the level of recognition or hospitality I would expect from a hotel within the Accor group. Despite my elite status, no room upgrade was offered, not even by one category. What was disappointing was that multiple room categories were still available for sale on the Accor app at the time, yet I was informed that no upgrades were available because the hotel was fully booked. The room was also not ready upon arrival, resulting in additional waiting time. I was directed to wait at the lounge, but there was little to no staff presence or communication regarding when the room would be available. Another disappointing moment occurred when I asked where I should wait for a food delivery rider. The response I received felt dismissive and unfriendly, which was surprising for a hotel that positions itself as a five-star property. While the location of the hotel is excellent and convenient, the overall service experience fell well below expectations. Recognition of loyal guests, professionalism, and basic hospitality are areas that require significant improvement.

We first stayed here for 8 nights 2 years ago and loved it. The hotel is our go-to hotel for Osaka each time. The check-in staff were very welcoming and friendly, including the luggage staff (Mounir). The housekeeping staff (Khoa and Nam) are also super nice and accomodating. The breakfast staff (Trang, Amy, Nga and Rai) are also very lovely and helpful. You can’t beat the hotel location, it’s convenient for both hot and rainy season. You can walk undercover pretty much everywhere. You can also borrow an umbrella from the hotel too. My husband and sons love the gym and swimming pool. We go to Japan every year and will definitely stay here again. Thanks everyone and keep up great work!

The review I wrote is already well under the 8,000-character limit, but if you’d like something a little sharper and more impactful: Review Title: Families Beware of the Pool Restrictions Review: We booked this hotel specifically because it had a pool, which was a major priority for our family while travelling through Japan in warm weather. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until after we arrived, checked in, and unpacked that we were informed children under six years old are not permitted to use the pool. This restriction was never clearly communicated during the booking process and came as a complete surprise. Had we been aware of this policy beforehand, we would have chosen alternative accommodation. Access to a pool was one of the main reasons we selected this hotel. While the staff were courteous and attempted to assist after we raised our concerns, it did not change the fact that one of the hotel’s key advertised facilities was unavailable to our family. The location is excellent, but we strongly believe this policy should be clearly disclosed before booking so families with young children can make an informed decision. This was a significant disappointment and impacted our overall experience.
