Bad start but got better - could not fault the staff

We were a wedding party at the guild hall so 12 of us. three booked direct on a breakfast evening meal package, three booked through booking.com. 1) We had a two day package but could only use it on day 1 for evening meal. Restraunt was closed due to a big NHS event. We all wanted a meal, could only have a bar meal. Told they could not server anything until 7.40pm, order arrived 8.20 pm. Order for my wife was forgotten then evenually came at 8.40pm. Bills were not allocated correctly, mine had my parents on it which we had to reallocate in the morning. Parents booked directly and so parking was free, but had the son drive the car due to distance and they were made to pay for parking as they booked through booking.com, refused to reallocate parting to farthers free parking. Staff could not be more appologetic and sympathised but still did not negate the fact what was offered was not available and our wedding experience on day 1 was impacted. Those on the package for the next day for evening meal so did not use the £20 per head or £80 in total so the hotel did benefit from this but were inflexible on the parking and other issues. Ashame as my daughter cut her feet and the night staff were great in attending to her with the first aid kit.

We arrived quite late not knowing there was a function so carparking was difficult but managed to find a place on the grass. The hotel was kind enough not to charge us anything which was very kind. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Our stay was complete with evening meal up to £20 each and the food was excellent. Good quality and freshly cooked. Room was lovely and bed very comfortable indeed. Slept like a log 🤣. Would recommend this hotel completely.

Good Location

The hotel is in a great location, but my overall experience was disappointing. As a light sleeper, I specifically requested a quiet room during check-in. Unfortunately, I was initially placed in a room next to the elevator, which was noisy. After being moved to a second room, it was still not quiet, as it was directly opposite the service rooms where staff were constantly coming in and out, causing the door to bang repeatedly. I was then relocated to a third room, which was quieter, but the bathroom had a strong odor. The engineer advised another move. At this point, some of the staff were becoming less accommodating, though Christina kindly arranged for me to be moved to a quiet and clean room. Unfortunately, my week-long stay did not meet the standard I expect as an ACCOR member.
