This is the best hotel in Sotogrande and probably one of the best one in Spain! Top service, amazing design, relaxing for couples and families. I will never thank enough for the hospitality and unforgettable experience. The spa is a bliss and the restaurants on property are simply great!

I spent 6 days at the SoSotto. I thought it excellent value. The food at the various restaurants was good and the drinks comparatively cheap. If you are a golfer, there is The Almenara attached to the hotel and many other champoinship courses nearby.

WATCH OUT for the unexpected “pre-authorisation charges for extras as a “just in case”. €200 a night! I’m sure the fees are in the small print, but the hotel doesn’t do a good job of letting you know about these fees. The check-in process was slow. We were ALL INCLUSIVE. The hotel has some extremely awkward and fastidious rules that one would expect at 2-3 star hotels, but NOT a five star. Regarding “takeaway” food and drink, we wanted to: 1. Take some water from the Society Club to our room - NOT ALLOWED UNLESS YOU PAY. The staff hadn’t topped up our two glasses of water in the room either, so we go thirsty in a five-star all-inclusive hotel?! 2. The staff advised the pool bar doesn’t do fries and to grab a takeaway from the society restaurant - of course, if I wanted to do this with all-inclusive - I can’t because I’d have to PAY! I simply wanted to take some chips down to the pool for my kids. The hotel is playing a game of chess with its guests who take the all-inclusive options. They make it obvious and it’s extremely frustrating they don’t want you to enjoy yourself. Remember, this is a “5-star” hotel, it’s not a 2 or 3-star hotel where maybe you would expect people to order a ton of food and drink and pass it to their friends. Shambles! Apart from the Marxa restaurant, we found the hotel waiters and waitresses lacked competence, and almost every visit involved mistakes, whether that was coffee forgotten, or wrong food brought out. On check out, after being very careful to stick to the menu guidelines, there were extra charges which the hotel accepted as a mistake. HOWEVER, the TWO LOLLIPOPS for the children are not included in the all-inclusive, so we had to pay extra for these. Herein is a perfect summary of my points about the rules and hotels not hiding their desire to get all it can out of their guests. It’s such a shame because the grounds are beautiful and the amenities are lovely. You can likely find much better value and service for your money (that being €3000 spent for a family of five of three nights!)

superb location, installations, rooms and food but ...what a mistake at reception !

If it wasn't fro what happened on Sunday morning our ratings wouyld be simply ...top ..top...excellent food, superb installations and surrounding, wonderfull room, cosy atmosphere ... but at the reception on Sunday morning nobody advised us that the police was going to roadblock access to the Hotel and we got stuck outside the Hotel all morning !...by the time we were allowed back in it was already ckeck out time
