new years dinner

The new years dinner was at a ridiculous price point, and the food did not meet the price by far. I have eaten at Michelin restaurants at this price, so if you set it there - the customer expects PERFECTION. Which was not the case. the final meat course was a luke warm, oddly cut (in the half) piece of unrecognizable meat. One plate, the meat was not even trimmed, with a large bit of uneatable connective tissue. Very sloppy. The hotel is however very nice, but I would recommend people to eat here. (the Cortillo served a chewing gum fish one night, which made high noises when chewing - almost amazing)

We were a group of 29 people travelling to Sotogrande to visit this amazing hotel. We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience at the hotel. The S&M team made it very easy to plan our stay, and they were very professional all the way through. At the hotel, the facilities were outstanding. We enjoyed the spa area, the outdoor pools and the beautiful golf course. Furthermore, the restaurants were at a very high level. Especially, we enjoyed the menu in the breakfast restaurant and the very high service level from the staff there. If you appreciate an outstanding service level, you will indeed enjoy your stay at this hotel!

We had a lovely stay, the hotel is relaxing and rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The spa and gym are also fabulous. We golfed and the course on site is fabulous and challenging for all handicaps. Lovely alternative courses nearby too. We particularly enjoyed Sans Roque. I would recommend this hotel to adults wanting a peaceful break (and not for families when out of season). This is why we chose SO and it fitted our needs. On the downside, you will definitely need a car as the hotel is situated amidst a private residential development. With a car you can get to the marina which is delightful and other restaurants in the vicinity. Unfortunately, we found the catering offering on site was limited as out of season and apart from breakfast which was fantastic we were not impressed with the menu choices and felt they were overpriced. That said, we booked to eat in the restaurant when it was open on Christmas Eve and we had a wonderful 5 course meal and I highly commend the chef and all who looked after us. The Tapas bar and restaurant that was open on other evenings was unpleasantly cold and we did not linger long there due to this. The weather wasn’t good though so perhaps this was unusual. Service was very good in all areas and the SO team are highly competent in customer care. Would definitely like to return. Thank you for our fabulous stay.

Loved my stay. Very comfortable room. Facilities were great (shame about the weather) but only used spa and played golf. Minor criticism was only cream in minibar and that doesn’t work with tea. Also had to ask for refills of tea and paper cups so it might be helpful to leave enough for a 5 night stay so replenishment not necessary. Christmas dinner was fantastic as was breakfast. Other offerings in evenings and lunch were mediocre and limited choice. Also I felt rather expensive if you are a hotel guest. That said it was a fantastic stay and we loved it. Thank you!
