Dear Sir/Madam I'm requesting to file a formal complaint regarding an incident I encountered in Movenpick Gammarth Hotel in Tunis . The incident took place today (3rd February 2022) when I was checking out . I was surprised by the receptionist requesting me to pay for dinner for the 3 days I spent in the hotel (31 Jan - 3 Feb ) claiming it is part of the backage booked by the US embassy as my travel and stay in Tunis was sponsored and arranged by the US embassy in Libya . I explained to him clearly that when I checked in on 31st January I asked the receptionist then if the dinner is included in the offer or not and she confirmed to me that the dinner is not included then I emphasized to her that I do not want to have dinner , It's worth mentioning that I requested an offer invoice (attached) before making the full payment in advance . However, the following day (when I was passing by) the same receptionist called me and was telling me out of a sudden that I need to pay for dinner for the 3 nights regardless whether I have my dinner or not !!! I responded to her that I was not informed of that when I checked in and that really what she says doesn't make any sense to me . She said that I can talk to the manager the next day . On 3rd of February , the receptionist insisted on me to pay 150 TND for 3 nights dinner that I never had ! His attitude with me and argument was very unprofessional and breaches any respected hotel code of conduct . So I would like to summarize to you some of what he said : " The US embassy had paid you for dinner , why don't you give it to me ?" Then he was threatening me that he will call the US embassy ! and pretended he called the embassy and claimed that the embassy told him that I should pay ! " Ok maybe you didn't know about dinner for the first night ,but we did told you at the second night so pay me 100 TND ( dinner for 2 nights ) " " I will not give you the receipt for the payment you have done until you pay for the dinner " At the end I had a plane to catch and I couldn't wait till 10 AM for what they called the one responsible , so I just walked away then at the hotel outer gate the security personnel was standing on my way as the receptionist obviously asked him to physically constrain me from leaving . I explained to him politely that it is all their mistake ! then luckily the car's gate opened as a car was entering so I quickly found my way out and luckily again a taxi was passing by at the same moment so I secured a quick escape of this stressful situation and managed to catch my flight . Let me clarify to you that I did not negotiate the price at all . When I first approached the reception I gave the receptionist a printed copy of the same reservation voucher you enclosed in your email . As she was taking a while on the hotel computer system I asked her again to confirm if she can find the reservation and she did . Then I asked her specifically about the dinner and whether it is included or not and she clearly said that it is not included ! Then to make things absolutely clear from my said I told her " so only the breakfast is included as I do not want to have dinner at the hotel " and she assured me that this is the deal ! I even asked her to give me a detailed invoice of the offer and the payment I'm requested to make in advance . Hence , I believe I am not obliged to pay for a dinner I never had ! If it is a mistake from the receptionist who checked me in then they have to bear the consequences . It is not a matter of money , it is a matter of principle . The way they treated me and the logic by which they addressed me is disrespectful and unacceptable . In conclusion , I believe a full investigation must be conducted to make sure that such misconduct doesn't happen again . Finally , I should be very grateful if you could provide me with the receipt of the payment I have done as I need to send it to my sponsor . Thank you Kind regards Safa B. Benghazi - Libya +218 91…

I stayed with my mom for exactly 4 nights and 3 days, the staff were super nice, the breakfasts were amazing and the view was stunning. My only trouble was that when I booked my room, I wasn't really told what are the things that I could access, for example having a worth of 50 tnd for dinner, where "the kitchen" was not included. So it took me a lot of back and forth just to know what I was a part of my reservations.

I had booked Classic King which I had stayed in previously and enjoyed the small patio. I was given an "upgrade" to Room 102 which must be the worst room in the hotel with a plastic window barrier to prevent anyone from falling into the empty concrete pit which it overlooks.

The room I picked was superior king. The first one I got was small and stinky , didn't unpack, was moved to another small upper level not stinky with a balcony, didn't unpack and asked for the highest category and I would pay the difference, I was moved to a beach room around early afternoon which was the sze I expected when I booked , it was hot I mean really hot , tried to start the AC didn't work, they sent maintenance for half an hour finally told us that AC is switched off all over the hotel in October 1st, by then I lost most of my first day over the room issue, . I called reception and said the room reservation I paid for upon booking included AC , I was told it's not available and will not be I said fine refund my money I am out, my friend called some contacts then the very next room with an AC was made available with a basket of fruits and a big smile. Most of my first day that was dedicated for tourism was lost. I found a good service is only granted when you pay fir every single individual service supplier 10 to 20 TND and sometimes it's done at the expense of the hotel itself this includes all services anywhere at the facility. Upon check out paid 600 TND 213$ for a red label delivered to ny room which i think was way overpriced , still I paid it with a smile and left. Sorry for taking much time on this I am writing without revisions so please accept my apologies.

Me and my family we spent 3 lovely days at Movenpick Ghammart and everything was amazing! Facilities are incredible, comfortable and super careful of Covid. Excellent pool and beach. All Hotel heartiest was always lovely and super helpful. Special thanks to FO team and Mohssin from the breakfast Zina and all HK team the Spa girls they are amazing they made my mom very happy. Again all the team they went above and beyond and make us felt so incredible welcome. Will definitely come back.
