We had a three day stay in Montevideo while traveling though the region. Hotel Costanero was a lovely respite on our two week trip. Attention to detail and customer service remain at the forefront of their operations. The location is great with sweeping water views from the hotel restaurant and water front rooms. The lobby is welcoming and modern with a hip bar and lounge area. The staff were all very friendly and you could tell enjoyed working at the hotel. I would stay again.

Great hotel, nice room, great service, bar and restaurant. The gym could be improved, it has just a few equipments - I had to go elsewhere and pay for it. And breakfast could be improved, more options like cakes, etc.

We paid extra for the beach view room only to find out that the glass window has almost no sound insulation. The rambla directly in front of our room was our alarm clock every morning at 7am. Every car, motorcycle and person was heard say and night. The bed was clearly date, soft and indented. The trash cans were so small, they barely fit one Starbucks cup. This turned out to be really annoying. $30 breakfast for a mediocre buffet is almost insulting. The room service pizza we ordered was delicious and we enjoyed it.

The room was immaculate and comfortable, overlooking the water. The daily breakfast was amazing. We spent a nice evening at the hotel bar learning about Uruguay and the science behind the cocktails from Alexis. They should listen to him about what to stock the bar with. Good location and easy Uber pick-up to anywhere you would want to go.

I was only in Montevideo for one night and my bed did not have a fitted sheet - just a top sheet that was not tucked in and was super thin. Because of this my asthma then began to act up because of easily breathing in whatever dust/particles were on the mattress under the thin sheet. When I reported this to the front desk, I was told “sorry about the inconvenience” and nothing further was done. Moreover, when I was checking out, there were two additional checks that did not belong to me which were charged to my room, when the front desk reviewed them they clearly were written with different handwriting and the other person neither signed them nor wrote their name. However, if I did not catch that these additional charges were not and could not have been from me because I was only there for one night and only charged dinner to the room, I was not even offered an apology about the mix up. Very disappointing, especially for a 5 star hotel. I will not be returning or recommending this hotel or brand to others in the future.

Although the hotel was very nice, the customer service was lacking. While checking in we requested and paid for a water view room. After spending 15 minutes at the desk processing the change we were still given rooms that were staring at a high rise building. Back to front desk. Spent another 15 minutes there to get things resolved and were told the room would not be ready for another 20 minutes. This is now 5pm. The mattress was very hard and we requested an extra comforter to cushion the be. Was told it will be delivered to room, but never arrived. So now three nights on a hard bed. We had an very early morning flight home the next day. We requested breakfast boxes as our rate included our breakfast. Was told not a problem. An hour later was called and informed me it would be $15 per person. We travel a lot and getting breakfast boxes for a very early departure has never been an issue.

After three weeks at various hotels in three countries the only suggestion I have is that you could make sleeping in your hotel easier if you would purchase some mattress pads with cushion or have pillow top beds. I find sleeping on a hard bed very difficult and then if I do sleep I awake with lots of aches and pains. The only other bed we experienced that was hard was also in Uruguay. You have a lovely country, but Argentina and Chile had more comfortable beds on this trip!
