Beach Volleyball with Rec Team

The recreational team at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba is amazing! We played beach volleyball on our last day with the guys on the team and we wish we would have known they play every day at 4pm. Don’t miss it! The hotel is also very beautiful. We love the Mayakoba area.

Yep! Still my favorite resort! We returned to the BT after five years this year. This was me and my husband's first time returning with our children and it was magical. We had a gorgeous beach front 3 bedroom villa and it was nothing short of heaven to walk out to the beach in the mornings with our coffee. My kids loved having a private swimming pool. The restaurants are amazing. Do not miss Cello or Saffron. The concierge was attentive and lovely. We really enjoyed biking the property. The eco-boat tour is such a wonderful dinner experience. We all look forward to returning.

The prices don't match the service quality, food, and overall execution.  We had the cheapest room at $1000/night so you would think that this would be a great resort that caters to your needs, has great service and overall experience, but it's understaffed, the staff that works there are not trained, it feels like they pulled them off the street and told them what to do.  The front desk does not complete requests and really it feels like they don't care. Given others pay upwards of $2000/night this place is not professionally run and they just don't seem to care. They should be on par with Four Seasons or St Regis but this is not the case. -Our AC was malfunctioning for 6 of the 8 nights, did not maintain temperature and the room felt overly humid-The bed was not luxurious, with no pillow top at all, a spring mattress  -The towels when they restocked them felt like sandpaper  -The food was hit or miss and overpriced. Tomahawk was meh, Saffron their most popular restaurant felt like suburban Thai food, Italian also wasn't that impressive. Sands with fresh fish was our favorite, although the execution was not consistent. The Mexican dinner was overpriced and didn't deliver an experience.  -When we booked our dinner at Rosewood they never told us we could take a boat there and when we tried it book it, it was not available  -The service at the beach was slow, you had to ask for umbrellas, towels, and water multiple times -There are not enough beach chairs so you need to go early to reserve yours, at 7 am early  -I paid $400 for a 60-minute massage and was rushed out of the spa, with no area to relax and drink tea and snacks when I provided that feedback they got defensive

Not worth it

Would not stay here again. We paid almost $1k/night so yes there were misses that are easily addressed and should not be at a 5-star resort: -The design of the beach loungers are so idiotic - who designed and chose these. The pillow (a triangle type thing) to sit upright was unconnected to the bottom cushion so of course they fell back. Unadjustable recline so you better like sitting in 1 position the whole time (while it falls off the edge) Having to constantly adjust it every 5 seconds to not fall behind you is not relaxing at all. - Upon check-in and tour of our room they advised they would swap out the male bike for another female bike. This never happened. My friend ended up having to use the male bike since our request was ignored and ended up almost falling/seriously getting hurt. - Stingy with the qtips - Our slippers kept being put in the closet. Why. Just leave them out near the front door because that’s when you put on slippers. - There were no umbrellas in our room upon check-in. Was great when it was downpouring the first night - Overall jankyness and worn down accommodation highlighted by one night when the door at the front got stuck and wouldn’t open. A passing attendant tried to open it but was also unsuccessful. We used the landline outside the door to ask for assistance. 20 minutes later, still no help arrived. We ended up walking to the front desk since we’d probably be waiting there all night: was greeted with coldness and apathy but at least someone came to help. - WiFi was very weak Pros: -Had drinks at the Rosewood - the shuttle was very convenient. Stay there instead. -Breakfast was good -The use of bikes around the property was fun -Felt very safe in Mayakoba Overall would stay at Rosewood next time because the above didn’t warrant the price.

Memorable! The best place around by far.

Outstanding stay at the Banyan Mayakoba. Rooms are excellent, food options are great and the service from their entire team is the very best in the Mx Riviera. The Temazcal with Luis, Leo, Melisse and Javier was a very unique and spiritual experience. A special mention and thank you goes out to our concierges Regina and Guillo for making sure every single detail and requests were handled to perfection. Thank you very much Andres B for your hospitality, taking the time to greet us all and for making sure our other family members also had a memorable stay. We will be back! 309
