We had a lovely 6-day stay at Fairmont Mayakoba. The service was excellent. The food is always wonderful. The entire trip was very accessible for my husband which means the world to us. All we had to do was text Daniel and Rodrigo and they were there to transport us, provide anything we needed or help with reservations. The setting was enjoyable but there were a number of disappointing experiences and observations related to service and environment as follows:
1) Couldnt find anywhere to sit and get snacks at the beach between 5pm and 6pm. We met friends and ordered 4 cocktails at the beach and there was no seating. We resorted to sitting on sunbeds next to the small pool while it was being cleaned.
2) Bed sheets rough and not comfortable.
3) Shower in room was very poor.
4) The mosquito situation is out of control and to a level that would prevent us from revisiting. We were both bitten 10x more that usual for Mexico even with repellent. You should provide a warning for this and repellant in every room.
5) Customer service in golf shop was poor. A purchase was made one day and i returned the next day to exchange an item that was still in the package and this was not possible.

Safe, reliable, accommodating, knowledgeable, professional, thoughtful and friendly… it started with the hotel’s airport car service and quickly transferred to the welcome greeting from the hotel’s valets and to our quick check-in experience. Then seamlessly it continued on for the rest of our stay on with the room presentation, the restaurant service, the bars and lounges, the onsite transportation, the boat captains, the butlers, the concierge service, the pools and the fabulous beach with its beautiful views. This is our first experience with Fairmont/Accor, as we are Ambassador Elite status through Marriott. It was at the recommendations of our business partners/friends that we do a trip to this location to celebrate the sale of our business . Overall the staff was generally accommodating and friendly, however the overall experience has solidified that we will not be returning to this property and likely any other Fairmont property. We understand that we travelled during the “slow season” but the fact that there were only two restaurants and one bar open, coupled with half the amenities closed, made the experience lack luster. Additionally, this is not our first experience with all inclusive, but we found the drinks were heavily watered down, the food was anything but impressive, and we are doing a deep dive on our bill now but believe that the gratuity was duplicated across all parties…despite asking for clarification on how they approached the “bills” at each meal. My wife and I also had to change rooms mid-trip due to a fowl sewage smell that filled our room and the part of the property we were staying in. Overall, I’d expect this trip to be inline with a very very budget friendly resort and not one owned by what we thought was a top brand in the hotel industry. Again, we have much appreciation for the staff, but it does not make up for the overall experience being a significant miss.

We have been to the Mayakoba Fairmont many times and it never disappoints! Vanessa, our butler, was on point, professional, courteous and knocked it out of the park - she is incredible! We enjoyed two days at the spa and could not have been more pleased ... all of the providers were attentive and amazing ... Gabriela, Vianey, Lula and Ixhall are super stars! While we were disappointed to not be able to enjoy the brunch buffet and dinner at La Laguna, Las Brisas and their staff were wonderful and took care of us with a smile and perfect dining suggestions. Tauro and El Fuego provided amazing meals in beautiful settings with superb service ... we can't wait to come visit again soon!

The property is lovely and the staff are super friendly and helpful. However, I was attending a corporate event at the property and when we were trying to spend time in the evening with everyone, there was no bar or lounge that was indoors with air conditioning. They were all outdoors or open spaces with no relief from the heat and humidity. Even the lobby - while lovely was very warm and humid as it is open and does not have air conditioning or even fans.
