We travelled to the Fairmont Mayakoba in January of 2023 with our two young children. I cannot stress enough how amazing of a stay we had. The service is completely unmatched. We have been to many other resorts both in Mexico and elsewhere and the service at this resort was incomparable. Even before arrival, I had reached out to book private transportation through the resort concierge. The contracted transportation company sent information within a few hours and answered all my questions. Driver was waiting for us at the airport with a sign. Cold water and cervezas in the van. Everything at the resort is so streamlined and organized. Alejandro was our personal concierge and he was wonderful! So friendly and helpful. Responding to all of our requests in minutes (got us bedrails for our son, booked us reservations and spa appointments, went out of his way to get us a lagoon tour booked even though they were quite full). You never have to wait more than a minute or two for a shuttle to get to different areas of the resort or you can enjoy the bikes to go everywhere (they do have many children’s bikes as well although only a few with training wheels). As well it is definitely walkable— just perhaps not for young children. I walked on my own a few times and it was beautiful (very safe). The grounds and rooms of this resort are immaculate. Everything has been renovated within the last couple years. We stayed in a Beach Area Casita (lagoon view). It was gorgeous. I highly recommend booking Beach Area as it is an ideal location. Pools are spectacular- the staff covers all chairs with towel covers in the AM and offers you fresh swim towels all the time. They will move chairs for you (if there is room), bring you umbrellas, etc. Again, unmatched service! Beach is amazing. Staff is out there from the crack of dawn raking and cleaning up seaweed. Beautiful beach to swim, play, do watersports. Everything on the property is so clean and well maintained. As well, the Mayakoba community of resorts has won awards for sustainability. You won’t find single use plastics or disposable items anywhere! Hand towels in every bathroom instead of disposable paper towel. It was wonderful. Food at all restaurants and for room service was exceptional. We paid for all inclusive plan and were still able to order whatever, whenever which is pretty unheard of at an all inclusive. Even the pool menus are amazing! Definitely try to book a lagoon tour if you have time. It is worth it! A gorgeous way to experience the property and see some wildlife. Our kids loved it. Spa is beautiful and huge. Again, exceptional service. Special thanks to Alejandro, Juan Carlo (our very knowledgeable lagoon boat tour guide), Luis at the beach pool, and Daniel in transportation. We hope to see you all again soon!!

Overpriced Jungle Bungalow

Overpriced bungalow in the woods. Advertised as beachfront - don’t believe it! A mile walk to beach. Had bikes around property which we used to get around. Security was lacking when walking along dark paths back to room each night. Lock on bathroom window broken. Security started banging on our door at 9:30pm while a Do Not Disturb sign was clearly posted on our door. The place was a massive disappointment. Save yourself considerable dollars and stay somewhere closer to Cancun (takes about an hour to get to this place) and likely at half the price. You’ll get a whole lot more for a whole lot less than Fairmont offers.

Fantastic staff and delightful activities

jefferai Families - TripAdvisor review

Stayed for four nights at the Fairmont with family. Initially there were several issues with the room (things broken/not working) but after notifying them of it they resolved the issues within 24 hours. The staff is universally friendly and accommodating and really take care of you. The food is very good, the pools were lovely, and the beach was fantastic. A few tips: * Definitely get the all-inclusive option as the food is extremely overpriced (par for the course for the area) and it is nice to pay up front and not worry about the prices of each item in the moment * The canal tour was a particular highlight — saw a ton of birds, turtles, snails, and more * Get a spicy passion fruit mezcalita (or five), you won’t be disappointed

The Fairmont Mayakoba is my favorite getaway!

The Fairmont Mayakoba is my favorite getaway! The second you arrive you feel swept away into paradise and the stress of the world fades away. This was my sixth trip to the resort and every time I come back there has been something new to discover. The staff at Mayakoba are truly what make my vacations memorable as they go above and beyond to ensure you have the most wonderful time. A huge thank you to Jorge Ayala, Heber at the Fuego, Paulette, German, Ulisese, and Oscar at Tauro, Frank at Celio, Yourdan, Deneb at the concierge, and last but not least Irving at the belldesk. I am so excited to be coming back in April or May 2023!
