The hotel is century located and within walking distance of all of the main attractions. We had a superior room with a complimentary mini fridge which was stocked with water and soft drinks. The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming not only when we got there but throughout our stay. The hotel has a boutique feel to it and is relatively small for a Mercure Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.

Dear Michael A., Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a fantastic review and for rating your stay with us 10 out of 10. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed our central location, the comfort of your superior room, and the complimentary minibar. It is especially rewarding to read your kind words about our team. Providing a warm welcome and attentive service throughout our guests’ stay is something we truly value, and your comments mean a great deal to us. We are also pleased that you appreciated the boutique feel of our hotel and that your overall experience met your expectations. Thank you for recommending Mercure Madrid Centro to other travelers. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back on your next visit to Madrid! Kind regards, Marta Ruiz Front Desk Manager Mercure Madrid Centro

We stayed one night at Mercure Madrid Centro and left extremely disappointed, enough to reconsider our loyalty to Accor. I am a long-time Accor member and usually try to book their hotels when possible. For a recent weekend trip to Madrid, I booked two nights around two months in advance. The rate already seemed high, but I assumed it was a busy weekend and made the booking simply to ensure we had accommodation. We deliberately made a flexible booking that enabled us to pay at the hotel rather than prepaying. When we arrived in Madrid late on Friday night after a flight from London, we saw online on our way to the hotel that an equivalent room was being sold that evening for significantly less, around €85 per night less. At reception, there was no warmth, empathy, or understanding of our frustration at being so clearly overcharged compared with the going rate that night. We were told we could not cancel or change the rate of the first night. The only option offered was to cancel the second night entirely, not even to move us to the cheaper rate for the second night, despite availability. Given we had arrived late after a flight and my wife was heavily pregnant, this lack of empathy was especially disappointing. There was no attempt to find a reasonable or customer-friendly solution, which was particularly frustrating given our loyalty to the Accor brand. In the end, cancelling the second night was the best decision we made. We moved the next morning to Hotel Vincci just around the corner. It is a much nicer, newer, far more welcoming hotel with a warmer atmosphere, and a significantly lower price - saving us lots of money for the second night of our stay in Madrid! The Mercure itself felt old and tired, with small, worn out spaces and rooms that did not justify the premium pricing. My advice is simple. Do not rely on Accor loyalty expecting flexibility or support. In this case, there was none. There are far better hotels nearby offering better value and service.

Dear Timothy, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to learn about your disappointment and that your stay did not meet your expectations, especially given your loyalty to the Accor brand. We would like to clarify that hotel rates are dynamic and vary depending on availability and demand, therefore, they are not fixed. The reservation you made was under a flexible rate, which allowed cancellation free of charge up to 24 hours prior to arrival. However, as stated in the terms and conditions accepted at the time of booking, cancellations or modifications on the day of arrival are not permitted for the first night. For this reason, our reception team followed the hotel policy and the agreed booking conditions. We sincerely regret that adhering to this policy was not to your satisfaction. We understand how frustrating this situation must have been, particularly after a late arrival and under your personal circumstances. While our team acted in accordance with the established procedures, we are very sorry that the interaction did not convey the empathy, warmth, and understanding that we always strive to offer our guests. Please rest assured that we will review our procedures and internal communication to ensure that, in future situations, we can better balance policy compliance with guest care. Our main objective is always the well-being of our guests and to provide service with empathy, kindness, and genuine hospitality. We truly regret that you left with a negative impression and thank you again for sharing your experience, which helps us improve. Kind regards, Marta Ruiz Front Desk Manager Mercure Madrid Centro

Service at reception was very average. Staff wasn't trying to find solution. The rooms were old and could really use a renovation or at least a refresh. All of this would be okay if the hotel was priced normally but for €270 it's outrageous.

Dear Philippe, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to learn about your experience at reception and would like to better understand what happened, as we are concerned to hear that no solution was offered at the time. We sincerely regret that you left with this perception, as our main objective is always the satisfaction of our guests and providing the best possible service. We also appreciate your comments regarding the rooms and pricing, which we will carefully review internally. Your feedback is very important to us, and we truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and offer you a much improved experience. Kind regards, Marta Ruiz Front Desk Manager Mercure Madrid Centro

The only benefit of this hotel is their staff - very friendly and helpful. Otherwise it's hardly believe you stay at 4 stars hotel. No bar, no welcome drinks except Coke, Fanta or Sprite (they could not make even a cup of tea for me). Still water in mini-bar is free only during the first day of your stay. Rooms are too small, and furniture seems to be quite tired. WiFi connection is so weird (spent half an hour to connect my iPad just because login form did not work properly), and speed is running up and down during your session. Hardly believe I would stay here again.

Dear Aleksandr, Thank you very much for taking the time to rate your stay with us and for sharing your experience through this platform. We truly appreciate your 3 out of 5 rating and, above all, your detailed comments, as they help us understand what happened and how we can improve. We are glad to read your kind words about our staff. Your recognition means a lot to us and to the whole team. Regarding the welcome drink, we would like to clarify that it includes not only soft drinks such as Coke, Fanta or Sprite, but also tea, coffee, beer, or wine. We are very sorry if this was not properly offered or explained during your stay. We will speak with the team to understand what happened and ensure this does not happen again. Concerning the complimentary water, according to Accor policy it is offered at the beginning of the stay. In addition, you always have water available at the hotel entrance, which is at our guests’ disposal throughout the day. We are truly sorry about the WiFi issues you experienced. We are already reviewing this matter with our technical team to make sure the connection process and the speed work correctly. Once again, thank you for your feedback. We regret that your experience did not fully meet your expectations, but we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and offer you a much better stay. Kind regards, Marta Ruiz Front Desk Manager Mercure Madrid Centro
