After having spent an entire month traversing India—largely ensconced in the comfort and expansiveness of five-star hotels and resorts—our final pause was in Delhi, strategically choosing Aerocity for its seamless proximity to the international airport. The ibis Aerocity booking itself came through a trusted channel: a close friend who had only recently retired from the Accor Group in Southeast Asia, and who confidently arranged our stay here. Upon arrival, the first impressions were mixed. The porch staff promptly received our luggage from the car and, in keeping with security protocols, sent it through the scanner. I proceeded to the reception to complete the check-in formalities; however, for reasons not clearly communicated, the process took an inordinately long time. During this extended wait, our luggage remained unattended at the scanner. It was only after my explicit insistence that a staff member arrived to tag it with our room number and send it onward. This lack of coordination at the front desk was unexpected and somewhat incongruous with the otherwise professional standards one associates with the Accor umbrella. The room itself was impeccably clean and well maintained, reflecting ibis’ well-known emphasis on hygiene and efficiency. That said, it was undeniably compact. After a month of generously proportioned rooms across the country, the sudden shift to a much smaller space was mildly disappointing. To be fair, this was less a shortcoming of the hotel and more a consequence of our own expectations shaped by prior indulgences; ibis makes no pretense of being a luxury brand. Where the hotel redeemed itself admirably was in the breakfast service. The buffet was varied, fresh, and thoughtfully curated, and the staff in the dining area were genuinely courteous and attentive. Check-out, in refreshing contrast to check-in, was swift and effortless, leaving us with a far more pleasant final impression. In summary, ibis Aerocity serves its purpose exceptionally well for travelers seeking a clean, efficient, and conveniently located stopover before a flight. For those who do not mind smaller rooms intended primarily for rest rather than relaxation, it is an ideal choice. As a constructive suggestion, the hotel would do well to streamline and expedite its check-in procedures, ensuring guests are not kept waiting unnecessarily after a long journey. With that refinement, the experience would align far more closely with the otherwise commendable standards on display.
