I chose Mercure because I expected the rooms to have effective air-con in case there was a heatwave. The room was getting warmer and warmer so I complained to reception: "Oh yes, I have had a couple of other complaints from that floor - I think it is broken". There were no other rooms available, no chance of getting it fixed because it was a Saturday (????!!!!). We were offered a room at a different hotel on the edge of the city and a fan. Room rate was reduced. Temperature was 28 degrees in the room over night so impossible to sleep which ruined our journey.

We completely understand that when booking a hotel during a period of extreme heat, you expect your room to provide a comfortable environment, and we regret that we did not meet that expectation. We also understand how disappointing it must have been to learn that the issue could not be resolved during the weekend. Although our team offered an alternative room at another hotel, a fan, and a reduction in your room rate, we appreciate that these solutions could not make up for the discomfort of spending the night in such high temperatures. Following this incident, the problem with the air conditioning has been addressed, and we have reinforced our maintenance procedures to help identify and resolve this type of issue more quickly. Please accept our sincere apologies for the impact this had on your trip. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity in the future to provide you with the level of comfort and service you rightly expected from Mercure. Best regards.
