Terrible the room was constantly too warm and the air conditioning either didn’t work or was useless

Dear Mr. L., Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Novotel Lugano Paradiso. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I am very sad to read your lines and the only 10 Pts/100 you give to our Hotel. Personally I was present during all your stay, early in the morning nevertheless never hear any kind of complain . After a stay it is impossible for us and for our technicians to solve any kind of issues. We measured yesterday the room temperature of room 726 and this one have exactly 21.5°C corresponding to the recommendation of accorhotels, all other 95 rooms have more or less the same temperature. I have to mentioned that at the moment and during your stay we were not heating the hotel as the day temperature in Lugano are between 14°C -17°C, the night ones between 5°C and 8°Celsius so that it is through that we stopped to cool down our rooms and have the regulation of our clime only to exchange used to fresh air from outside. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back to our Hotel.. Kind regards Christian Schreiner General Manager

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was well appointed and tasty, and the hotel was well situated for our travels. Our children, ages 4 and 5, loved the activity table in the lobby and the welcome stuffies at the front desk. The room was quite small for a family of four but it was clean and the furnishings were of high quality.

After a busy day shopping and sightseeing in Lugano, we decided we were too tired to go back to Zurich and booked a last minute stay. There were no rooms left on the website so we contacted the hotel directly. The staff were brilliant and found as a last minute room - even providing us tooth brushes and toothpaste (tablets)! We were so tired we ate in the restaurant where the food was fantastic and the staff very friendly and attentive. Excellent buffet breakfast and coffee. Will stay longer nest time!

We spent 3 nights at Novotel Lugano. The hotel is modern, clean and tidy. Reception staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is not enourmous, but it got most things you want and need and the team is very engaged. My wife was with pregnancy diabetes and needed to adapt her diet. The service team made additional purchase of sugar-free oat milk..this is a nice detail that one remembers when going to a hotel. However, I feel that the relationship between room size and price does not fit. I understand this is Switzerland and particularly Lugano. Without redeeming my points, the room costs around 250 CHF - for this I would have expected at least a room with a king-size bed. Ammenities in the bathroom, despite its eco-logo, seems to be rather cheap. All would have fine, had we been in the Ibis, but we had higher expectation for Novotel and could not see that much of a difference. Another issue comes to the Accor Memberships. As a Gold Member, one is entitled to an automatic upgrade. In my case, I asked what the upgrade was. I was given the answer that my room had the coffee machine and the minibar included (the latter which was not automatically refilled but only on request). Still, that is not I understand as an upgrade. So, pricewise, I would have expected more, still service wise we were really happy.

Friendly staff. Rooms with everything you need. Clean. Excellent breakfast buffet. Thank you for the breakfastbox as I checked out early the last day. Suggestion: Sandwich-bread too thick. Otherwise good choice.

The Hotel is well located not fare from the lake and the funiculare. The breakfast buffet was nice. A few housekeeping issues were noted: Only about half of the TV channels worked. The shower was not maintained well and the water came out behind the shower head.

I have some experience with Novotel hotels, spending more than 60 nights/year in Accor hotels. I am booking quite often with the app and I never had any problem before. I never let any comment in the past, that's my first time. I am booking exclusively double rooms. In this hotel, you have to take care that you are indicating you are two adults at the moment of the booking. They asked us to pay extra 140 EUR for my wife in the double room I booked. When I asked for explanations, they told me that it is the case in any Novotel. It is of course not the case, in other Novotel you will only pay additional breakfast and City tax when you are two in a double room. When I told them this fact and that I was surprised they immediately asked if I wanted to cancel. I told them if it was possible to register for myself only, get into the room and tried to understand what I had booked on my computer, they asked me again if I wanted to cancel. They finally registered myself indicating that they have no trace of my online registration (first time for me but I guess it can happen). They asked my wife to stay in the lobby while I was getting into the room to look at my computer! I guess they were thinking that we will try get in without paying for the extra! Then a person came without introducing himself talking to me in a familiar way, justifying his attitude by the fact that he was considering me aggressive (never had anybody telling me aggressive in any Accor hotel for 10 years). After this warm welcome by the manager of the hotel Mr. Schreiner (difficult to obtain his name by the way), we of course paid the extra, we also had to pay direct at the bar as the deposit never worked (They close the invoice at the registration). Then they ask for the ID of my wife at the moment of leaving the hotel because they forgot to take it at the registration. Interesting experience for the start of a relaxing WE!

We would like to point out that the Novotel Lugano Paradiso has single use and double use rooms and clearly the rate is different between 1 and 2 persons. Your booking was made for a single use room nevertheless you were 2 persons. At the check-in one of our receptionist asked you in a polite way to pay a supplement for the second person and shows you as I did personally too, your stamped reservation were you booked 1 single room as we try to explain to you. We all were really surprised that immediately you refused to pay the difference to the double room, telling us that the other person would be sleeping somewhere else, this was of course not the case. For the request of the passport or an ID’s this is a normal procedure requested by the Canton Ticino. During all the procedure I was present at the reception desk and give you my name too, also I try to explain to you that in Lugano we have a single and a double rooms rate, without any success. The Name of the manager is easy to get, asking one of the present receptionist’s 3 in total and in addition it is written on the billboard behind the reception, the website of the hotel in case if this one is not present. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Kind regards Christian Schreiner

I stayed for a short "workation" - working from the hotel with a very fast Internet connection, good light and ample power plugs and a USB power connect in the right place at the table to then enjoy the good location 5' from lake promende, bus stops (direct bus to city, to SBB rail station and to Funicolare Monte Bre, Funicolare San Salvatore is right next to hotel). Hotel is 7 years old, but very well maintained - everything looks and feels quite new. Mattresses excellent, Pillows unfortunately of rather poor quality, very good blind-out curtains and excellent noise insulation (incl. the usually outstanding Accor-type of doors that really keep noise from corridors completely out). Breakfast was good, with really friendly and fast staff - we had to book "slots" for breakfast to avoid overcrowding, but I woke up early and came a bit early: no issue, was greeted with a smile and the breakfast team was truly speeding to serve everyone fast depite a busy morning. And while obviously the restaurant was closed, the hotel did offer limited room service (did not try), but also pointed out two good local food delivery companies and happily accepted deliveries. Parking is easy, hotel garage is 20 CHF per 24 hours, with direct access to reception / rooms Very good stay, being upgraded my room even had a limited lake view. I will be back when in Lugano, thank you to the team for a very pleasant stay.

We have been in this hotel for a repeated time. The staff was very friendly and motivated as usual in that hotel. It's always a pleasure to be there. The breakfast was also very good, there was a big Variety of exquisite dishes. For one time we also had dinner there, what was also excellent. For that time, unfortunately there were some really strange guests. Some were with their dogs in the hotel. Incredible, but true. During the night we wake up because some dogs were barking. This noise came definetely from inside the hotel. We also have seen a lady with two dirty dogs Walking into the lobby and the elevator. There they jolted. This lady also didn't care about the current distance rules because of COVID-19. This is totally unsanitary and the hotel shouldn't allow such people with dogs. There was anyway a big noise almost each night. Obviously some people celebrated a party with loud music. It's incomprehensible why nobody from the hotel staff stopped this noise. Further, similar situation in the pool area. We like the pool very much. Though there is limited space there with not many seats. For that time, very often there were people hanging round in the pool area, who neither swim, nor enjoy the sun, just occupied the seats, made selfies for a long time. In addition there was a Family, that didn't care about rules and let their Little girl, only wearing nappy, into the pool! That happened at least two times. Needless to say, that other guests suddenly left the pool afterwards. Something like that is inacceptable and the hotel staff should intervene in such situations.

We are a dog friendly hotel and yes, it happens that at the collar with their human friend, there are dogs sometimes here. Our pool area is divided between deck chairs by the pool and sofas and armchair on the other side, for those, who just want to be outside enjoying some fresh air with fresh cocktails prepared by our bar keepers. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Bed is too small for 2. Only 2 elevators are not accaptable. Breakfast offering limited. Dinner of another room was on our bill. Location is ok. No deals with local golf courses. No welcome drink as Accor silver member. (corona?)
