Comfortable room and location. Would probably stay again. It was raining on and off the morning of check out. Given stairs are not covered, this made both the stairs themselves and handrails very slippery for navigating especially while trying to get bag/s down stairs. We observed old guy 70s trying to do so... big risk to the hotel by these being so slippery and putting guests like that upstairs. After check in, reception staff member was texting multiple times trying to get us to a ALL presentation on time-share. I'm not aware of opting in to this form of comms or offer. Not all details were apparent in early messages and when they were, we cancelled.

We have been coming to The Sebel for a very long time - when we first started holidaying with them, they were called Grand Mercure apartments. In the last 2 years or so, every trip we have made to The Sebel in particular has included a very hard line approach to get people to attend their "Information Sessions". These sessions explain changes to the ALL membership and are advertised as simply updates for members to be aware of. Unfortunately, this is followed by a very pushy attempt to either increase the member payment or to join Accor if you have booked in on someone's membership. We already attended a session last year, and I was offered the same session and perks that come with attending when we checked in this time. I politely declined, however a member of staff continued to text my personal mobile and call our room to continue offering these perks and asking us to attend. I do not come on holiday from my extremely stressful life to be badgered by the staff at our accommodation. It made me feel very uncomfortable that I was being contacted on my personal phone while out at dinner and lunch, and I wanted to avoid walking near the members lounge area for fear of being accosted and talked into joining. It made my stay at The Sebel very insular this time, and I am weary of staying again as I really don't appreciate being pulled into a sales pitch when I'm trying to have a holiday. I even had my husband do our check-out for me as I did not want to engage with the staff after being harassed on the phone. If a guest declines your offer, despite all the perks and $100 vouchers etc, this should be respected and left at check-in when they decline. I would seriously suggest changing the approach here as it is making The Sebel a place to avoid, instead of the getaway and oasis that it has represented for us for so many years.
