Mercure Budapest City Center Hotel 4.5 stars

We stayed in the Mercure City Centre hotel, excellent location for shops and restaurants. The hotel was good. Breakfast was a bit of a letdown, only bacon and scrambled eggs every day if you wanted a traditional breakfast. There were lots of other selections, but not very appetising looking, maybe to the locals. The room we had was on the tenth floor, lovely large room with the tiniest bathroom we have ever had in any other hotels we have stayed in, it was 1 meter square standing room, but it did the job, had a large shower though which was good. We did the usual tourist things open top bus, Castle ,Fisherman bastion, local cruise in Dunube, but one day we went on the Danube Bend bus tour, which was an excellent full day, the 2 course lunch was very good at a restaurant high up in the hills with a view of the river, at the last town stop the tour included a return by boat to Budapest, a 1 hour cruise which was an excellent finish to the tour. Would highly recommend Budapest Merc

Your hotel was clean and modern, staff were kind - however, part of a good night sleep is a good pillow.. the ones provided are like sand bags - hard and uncomfortable. Woke up with a stiff neck. When housekeeping was asked for something softer… there was no option from housekeeping.

The building next door is under construction, so it's a bit of a mess. There are at least three elevators, but the down button on all of them kept breaking during our stay, so we had to press the up button to get down with no other option.
