This hotel is an amazing spectacle in grandeur and opulence and guests will undoubtedly feel a special sense of luxury when walking its halls or staying in their rooms. The attention to detail of the building and the decor is exemplary. The history of the building with the grand entrance and impeccably dressed waiting staff as you arrive is a unique type of five star feeling. The bed linen is made from fine cotton, something the hotel website boasts about and rightly so. However, the hotel does fail to complete that experience by ignoring some basics. Firstly, there is a digital pad on the bedside table that can allow you to ask the chamber maid to make up the room or call the butler. It has a bright LED and cannot be missed. And at 3 am, when I am writing this review, all I want to do is to turn the damn thing off. I have had this light shine in my face all night making it impossible to sleep. I’ve tried to wrestle with it but it seems the thing is glued to the building. I’ve tried to turn it off and to do that, I would have to turn on the main bedroom light and that would wake my wife up who is at the other side of the bed without this glowing display enjoying the 600 gsm cotton sheets. I have now covered the display, which is the size of a mini iPad, with a piece of cardboard over it and muted the effect of the North Star that has descended onto my bedside table. This now allows me to turn my undivided attention to the air conditioning. I have had the temperature at 18.5 Celsius and the fan at full. But this thing has a mind of its own. Where the LED of the bedside mini iPad didn’t want to turn itself off, the air conditioning doesn’t want to turn itself on. So here I am, at 3 am, wondering if grandeur and opulence outweighs a good nights sleep, and it does not. Sometimes, it’s just the simple things that matter in the end and this is one thing that the hotel has failed to concentrate on.

I would say The Sofitel Legend Xi’an is the best hotel I ever stayed before. Located in the heart of the old town. Walking distance to most sightseeings . Service was fabulous. They did everything they can to help me book the tickets of The Warriors . They even made a restaurants for me which mostly did not take reservations . Great job for you guys.

Sofitel people's grand is a top hotel. The service was exquisite from the butler team to the front desk staff. It was some of the best service we've seen globally, I highly commend the staff. We were given a suite upgrade, which was a good size suite with a classic design. The location is in a private square in the middle of Xi'an within walking distance to the city walls and many restaurants. Absolutely the place to stay when visiting Xi'an and the terra cotta warriors.
