First the positive, this hotel is in a great location, right above the train station, and easy to access by train. The front desk staff were professional, friendly and welcoming, which gives a great first impression. Unfortunately this hotel is very old and tired, as several other reviews have noted, the rooms are in serious need of a refresh, it felt very old and dated, with an A/C that hardly worked, and a shower that spread water all over the floor in the tiny little bathroom. In room dining was also very disappointing, what was delivered was certainly not what was described on the menu. This hotel advertises itself at a five star establishment, and yet I have had much nicer stays in four star hotels. This hotel has skated by on it's amazing location and slick french branding, but it falls significantly short of what you would expect from a Sofitel.

Good location. Reasonable breakfast. Limited toiletries. No tooth brush provided- lucky managed to get trem at a local supermarket. Water bottles no replenished after day 1. Bar closed at 10pm . Friendly and helpful staff.

I’ve stayed at the hotel a few times over the years and it’s also my hotel of choice when travelling to Brisbane for work. This time the check in process was quite slow. There was a line but only one person on the desk (she was lovely though). The in room dining menu left little to be desired. Not enough choice. Also whilst the QR code is efficient, a paper based menu is always better, also for your elderly demographic too I imagine. There was also demolition night works on the road adjacent to the hotel. Whilst I understand these weren’t ‘hotel’ works, given they were rock hammering all through the night, and concierge told me it had been occurring for a number of weeks, I feel this should be communicated at booking stage.

This is definitely not up to our normal standards. I am really sorry about the wait when you arrived. There is always supposed to be a minimum of two people at the desk to avoid their been waits and I apologize that there wasn't when you arrived as it isn't fair on you or the receptionist. Rest assured that we have addressed this to avoid future occurrence. I also apologize for the demolition works that occurred during your stay. We have followed up with the council as we haven't been notified of their been works and it has occurred sporadically over the last few weeks and we are unfortunately unsure when they happen or if they have finished. Due to the numerous issues that have occurred during your stay we would love to offer you a complimentary upgrade to a Suite on your next stay with breakfast included. Please feel free to contact me should you decide to come back as I would like to personally ensure that you we redeem ourselves.
