Really disappointing stay at this Novotel. It's one of the reasons we won't stay loyal to the Accor brand because the lack of consistency across their hotels are huge. Breakfast- do not waste your money. It is basic with not a lot of variety, which on the first day didn't matter too much, it had what we needed. On days 2 and 3, they ran out of food. One day my husband was told he couldn't have eggs his way because 'the chef is too busy',they had no hot chocolate, no pastries- which came out after 30 mins, ran out of fruit. I complained with a 'we'll look into it"- never happened because same thing the next day, no baguette, no yoghurt, fruit ran out, no pancakes, waffles. The staff are rude and dismissive- 'we didn't realise it was going to be this busy- we have run out' like that's an acceptable response. I asked for 2 days Breakfast payment back , who knows if I'll get it because the communication is shocking there & no one actually listens to you. Rooms- they were fine, dated and basic but comfortable but the issue is with cleanliness. The first day they tidied but didn't clean. The toilet was left dirty and the sink and surfaces. Next day cleaner comes to the room, tell her we're leaving to go out in 30 mins, explain to reception, no point. We come back with an unwell child at 3:30pm and room not cleaned. Speak to reception doesn't apologise but gives me waffle about 'departures and those rooms being cleaned' my husband ended up speaking directly to cleaner to get it done, had to wait in the bar for it to be cleaned. Food- We have stayed in Accor hotels during the Xmas period and understand that sometimes they have a limited menu but to be told they're not doing a kids menu and to pick from the adult one, umm no, my 10 year old won't finish an adult meal, had to ask them what they suggest to be told they can do a couple of things, same miserable bloke from breakfast. My boys ended up eating chips. Bar- there were 2 members of staff in the bar that were great. Helpful, friendly and efficient. The nicest , largest and comfiest table was apparently 'the office', always had a member of staff with a laptop on it. Usually just one member at a time. Staff- worst part. There were a few lovely members of staff but mostly they were unhelpful, unapproachable, dismissive & unfriendly. We loved our stay in Bristol and the only thing that let it down was the hotel. I don't recommend it unless there are big changes.

Always find pleasant and comfortable but a little updating needed

I have been staying here every year for 10 years. The rooms are spacious with small fridge, tea and coffee making and bath if you ask for it. I have found the staff very pleasant and helpful. This year, however, I feel it’s beginning to look slightly shabby – in particular, the carpets need replacing. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.

Watch out for the hidden parking chage

The hotel was lovely. Great location. The room fee is on the website. The price for breakfast is on the website. Parking is available, but nowhere does it say it'll be £15 per day! The mince pies on arrival were nice

It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback and I am happy to hear that you had a good stay with us. We do appreciate your comments regarding the parking. The charges are displayed on our website under hotel services and parking, but would not be on the confirmations sent and are not as clearly seen as the price of the room or breakfast.
