Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the room could have been cleaner and it was a little expensive at £160 for one night. Location is excellent, right next to Aldgate East Underground and a Tesco Express

I have visited London for the first time. Since I work also in hospitality, the atmosphere was very nice and friendly. The manager was perfect! He brought so much joy to a day!

I booked the hotel for the central location and because I trust the Accor brand. Upon arriving, I was very dissatisfied. First of all, there's nothing wrong with low cost or budget hotels. I get that there are trade-offs to saving money and being centrally-located. However, this hotel takes it way too far. A few concerns I'd like to highlight: 1. Cleanliness. The daily housekeeping is abysmal. While I don't expect luxury service, the fact that our water glasses and coffee mugs/spoons were just left in place dirty every day was a real turn-off. We always hung up our towels with the intent to reuse them but a new bath towel was left every day. So, more mug cleaning and less fresh towels, please. 2. Mattress. The bed was basic and didn't have a real mattress but rather about a 3-inch thick pad. It wasn't uncomfortable per-se, but definitely deceiving based on the room descriptions. 3. Bathroom. This was the strangest, most upsetting part of the experience. The bathrooms are prefabricated all-in-one plastic stalls. The shower doors don't actually close properly and it really feels like using an airplane or train bathroom. I've read in other reviews that Ibis prides themselves on "modern bathrooms," but at what cost? I've had far nicer bathrooms with proper counter space and showers that don't leak water everywhere in campgrounds. Rip these out and build a real bathroom!
