The bathroom facilities in my room needed attention. The shower head didn't adjust to my height, the sink tap turns the opposite way for hot and cold from what is indicated on the tap and there were no facial tissues in the room.

I am a regular visitor to the Ibis in Shoreditch. It is conveniently located next to Aldgate East tube station. The rooms are large enough and the bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. The beds are comfortable. The breakfasts are good and provide enough of a choice for everyone. Overall, this is my hotel of choice whenever I travel to London for business.

Mattress so old that a 1" thick topper was seen to be a benefit. Room with wall so thin you could hear the next occupant breathing. No hot water in the shower. No shower gel in the shower. A desk too far from a power socket to enable you to plug in a laptop. Breakfast so awful that I imagine the local vermin would have turned their nose up at it. Unless your only alternative is to sleep on the underground, avoid this hotel at all costs.

Stayed one night on business, staying 3 nights next week, too. Plus points - check in very friendly, bed comfortable and clean. Negatives - room window had been left open resulting in smells from the kitchen (I assume) entering room. It was a very unpleasant odour. No shower gel or shampoo in dispensers in shower. Paper cups in bathroom did not look like they were new. Invoice for stay has not been emailed to me - I need this to claim expenses. I can collect this when I'm staying again next week, but this should be done as a matter of course...business travellers do not want to wait in queue to check out. Area around the hotel is not ideal (which is clearly neither the fault of the hotel nor the street sleepers who have nowhere else to go).
