My experience at this Novotel was consistently disappointing and far below the brand’s standards. The breakfast was extremely basic, with empty trays that were slow to be refilled, and half of the dining area was closed due to “short staffing.” At exactly 10:00 a.m., staff cleared everything away—even while guests were still eating. The bar was equally problematic. Service was extremely slow; the bar full of people, 1 employee behind the bar, I had to stand for at least 10 minutes just to order two beers. Although the bar was advertised as open until 1:00 a.m., the outdoor area was closed at 11:00 p.m. Staff attitude around this was surprisingly unprofessional—one night I was told sharply, “You cannot go outside, it’s closed,” and another night, while I was already outside, an employee came out in a very rude tone saying, “Time to go inside, we are closing.” The room conditions were unacceptable throughout my entire six-day stay. The heating and thermostat never worked, and the lights repeatedly turned off automatically a couple of minutes after entering the room. I reported these issues to reception, and the “solution” was to completely disable my heating for an entire day, leaving the room even colder. Although the system was re-enabled the following day, neither the heating or lights did not work for the rest of my stay. Cleanliness in common areas was also concerning. Food leftovers were left in the hallway outside my room for over three days and were only removed a full day after I complained. Basic amenities were handled poorly as well. The water refill station at reception was almost always empty; instead, I was directed to the bar to buy water. It was refilled only once—and only after I complained. Overall, this property delivered one of the poorest hotel experiences I’ve had anywhere in the world and is, without question, the worst Novotel I have ever stayed in.

I was unable to enter the property when I arrived at approximately 23:00 to check- in. Despite Repeated calls on the entry buzzer there was no reply. I walked around the building and found the IBIS entrance. The manager there came with me, also tried the buzzer and called the reception by mobile with no success. He then let me cross over into Novotel via a walkway on one of the upper floors. The night receptionist seemed completely unaware of the problems, did not apologise and was most interested in getting me to pay . There was no credit for being a Silver account holder. Room had a shower that leaked due to a faulty fitting. Disappointing breakfast with inedible “rubber” eggs not worth £21. Definitely not up to Novotel normal standards.

Stayed here for a night while attending an event at the Excel. Checking in was ok, however following that the bar and restaurant experience needs improvement as staff seemed to struggle, when in my room there were several red marks all over the carpet and areas under the bed, under the sofa and other areas where hoovering and cleaning had been missed

I stopped here twice for a passport renewal in November and December. It’s right next to the passport office so very convenient for the 4 hour service. The hotel is well run and the team are very friendly. The front desk is very friendly and helpful at all times and the team who run the bar made my evening on Tuesday this week. Nice fish and chips in the restaurant at lunch.
