We visited Budapest during a very busy time as they celebrated the establishment of the country but managed to get a room at this hotel. The location of it was perfect for us. I stayed there with my daughter, and I have to say the room was very quiet, the bed comfortable and staff very polite and helpful. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the cleanliness of the bathroom. It could have done with some attention. I hope they look into it. It would be a shame for them to get lower ratings because of a so easily sorted matter that's so important at the same time.

Well located nice hotel in Budapest

Novotel apparently bought a traditional hotel, Palace Hotel and connected with a newer half to make a big property. The interior of the former Palace Hotel was really nice (although my room was on the other side). The location of the hotel was very good, close to the city centre with a lot of public transport available. The breakfast was good. I had a couple of issues, especially a very strange situation that the internet connection was not possible only around my room for some unknown reasons, but I was later moved to a room 10 m away and the problem disappeared miraculously. The only thing I did not like is that one of the receptionists was busy with writing text messages with her mobile phone when my turn came, and I felt that it was more important for her to do so than dealing with the arriving guests. She could do that behind the wall, not in front of the guests waiting to be served.

Very helpful Reception staff. Assisted promptly when room’s tea/coffee items not replenished . Bar meal & drink was good. Breakfast room is a beautiful, characterful space, however too many children serving themselves unsupervised and touching many items, crockery etc. Please consider installing Perspex or glass shields over the food. Hotel room was spacious although decor a bit dated. Had a safe, fridge & tea/coffee facilities. Room fronted main road and was ridiculously noisy on second night. Ask for a room towards the rear.

Midnight room change

Very first night we were woken up by dripping water in the room. There was a leak from the ceiling. The reception gave us 2 options, to turn the AC off, that was apperently leaking - in the miggle of the heat wave in Budapest or to move to another room. So we packed all the things and move in the middle of the night. I got complimentary drink at the bar. I dont drink and I was visiting Budapest with my 13 year old son... I let that free drink voucher at the recepiton with explanation that I dont drink and will dont definitely go to the bar with my kid. I expected that they would maybe at least didnt charge the minibar. Well they did.
