Good hotel a 15 minute walk to the centre

A comfortable room with a lovely view. However the hotel has a policy of not servicing rooms during your stay - we were there for 3 nights. This would have been ok if the room had been adequately provisioned but, for example we Had one cup. Every day we needed to ask for something, like a clean towel, an extra pillow (also not in the room) or tea bags, etc. and it was never straightforward to get what we needed. We’ve stayed so far in 4 hotels in Germany on this trip and no other has had this policy.

The receptionist was not very kind, she looks and behaves unfriendly and negativ. The chef in the restaurant was super. He was very positive and very kind. It would have been nice if we were told that your restaurant only were open friday to sunday evening

The hotel looked very nice and clean which was nice to see. My experience with the personnel wasn't as good, both the receptionists and the restaurant personnel were very unfriendly. We choose for the fast check-in option, however, the check-in process still took very long. In addition, the breakfast was very disappointing as the options were very limited and didn't seem very fresh.

Easy check in, good value parking. Spotlessly clean. Due to Covid no housekeeping in rooms but no problem for us. Our stay unexpectedly cut short, no problem when checking out, only charged for our shortened stay.

Restaurant closed both nights, bar closed one night but party having dinner in room adjacent!

The hotel failed to respond to my request for a dinner booking at 2000 on 11th August. When we got there the receptionist was very gruff and just said "the restaurant is closed", no apology, no explanation. The bar was open and we enjoyed a welcome drink before walking out in a thunder storm to the wonderful Pizzaria Il Mulino. Then on 12th both the restaurant and bar were closed, again no explanation but the closure was especially annoying as there was a large group enjoying drinks and supper in the function room next to the bar. Again we went out in a thunderstorm and after waiting over an hour an a half to be served in the Koblenzer (again rude and useless service), we returned to Il Mulino and had a damp but tasty meal.

Service decreased quite a lot since last stay

As a business traveler I've already stayed several times at Mercure hotel Koblenz. This time however I realized quite a huge decrease in service quality - which cannot be referenced to Covid-19 impact all the times. For example there are no fresh made eggs at the breakfast: where is the difference with regard to Covid-19 if an employee distributes fresh eggs or eggs which have already been cooked in advance? Furthermore there is no smoked salmon anymore at the breakfast - also not linked to Covid-19 I assume. I stayed for 2 nights and the bar has not been open for a single night. The only chance to get some drinks in the evening was to go to reception all the time - also not a standard for such a hotel. All in all I enjoyed my stay however I realized quite a decrease in service quality resulting out of cost reduction.

Due to the Covid-19 regulations, the rooms were not entered by service personnel during the 14-day stay. Therefore the rooms and litter bins were not cleaned during the complete stay in the hotel. At the end of the first week we therefore asked to change the rooms, which was finally carried out. New towels and toilet paper had to be picked up at the reception itself (Less comfort).

Sufficiently prepared for Covid-19, clear guidance and explanation on available services, good that the mini fridge was available and the room was well cleaned. Understand the limitations, but was all well catered for.

Corona taken into account, it was a disappointing stay. We were there for 7 days and during that time it was not cleaned, we had a Privilege Room, which includes a minibar and coffee, but we had to pick up refills at the reception and thereby stand in line and feel that we went begging for something we had paid for. The same was true for towels. Why not place a complete set every morning at the door, it would provide a much more comfortable stay and possibly offer a cleaning on request. We were subsequently at a hotel in Hamburg and they offered this. There was a constant humming sound, even with the aircon off Half of the staff were rude, the other half were very helpful The 3 stars is for the view and the location.

Nice rooms -but pay attention to current special services and offers

The hotel is located near the shore of the Rhein river and it is therefore very neer restaurants and prime sights in Koblenz, The hotel offer nice rooms with good views. The breakfast is very good and there were only a few restrictions due to the situation with the Covid-19 outbreak. These restrictions were the use of face masks whenever your are in the buffet and limited self-service. There is a paid parking oportunity just below the hotel, so this is very convenient. Despite the good things, we had some issues with the particular booking, that we had. We had booked a two nights stay including breakfast and a three course meal in one of the evenings. At check inn, we were informed, that the restaurant was closed so they could not not offer the three course meal. We were told, that they could order some take away for us or compensate on the room rate in stead. The next day, we tried to arrange the evening meal but were told that this was not possible and that it was not included in the rate. It was nevertheless clearly stated on the booking confirmation. So we ended up having no meal as expected. Furthermore, they had not registered at the breakfast, that we had paid for breakfast, so also this was needed to be corrected. This was solved with the reception, but it was an unneeded obstacle. It is needed, that the booking website only offers possibilities that can be guaranteed. It was also clear, that you could book the offer with two nights stay and a three course meal also in the days after our visit. It may be due to Covid-19, that the offer could not be provided, but this should have been stated in advance.
