A_Traveller122 Business - TripAdvisor review

I stayed at the Ibis Budapest City Hotel for one night and I had a really good experience. There are indeed many different Ibis hotels in the Hungarian capital and I have only been to one other, but this one was very good and I really liked it. It’s very conveniently located on the Pest side of Budapest near to the Danube river and right in the heart of the city with most popular places in the city center within walking distance. The hotel is situated on the Akácfa útca street in the Erzsébetváros neighborhood in the VII district, also known as in part the historic Jewish quarter of Budapest and the largest synagogue in Europe - Dohány utcai zsinagóga - is only about ~6-7 min walk from the hotel. The hotel’s also very close to and easy accessible with both multiple bus stops, a major train station and several metro stations nearby. The main intercity and international eastern Budapest-Keleti train station is only a short ~5 minutes walk from the hotel. There are also multiple metro stations in close proximity of the hotel - “Keleti pályaudvar” (M2), (M4), “Astoria” (M2) and “Blaha Lujza tér” (M2). Also multiple bus stops right outside the hotel. You can easily get to the hotel from the airport by taking the 200E bus to the Kőbánya-Kispest (KöKi) metro station (KöKi's also a huge shopping mall) and then transfer to metro (M3) and if You time it right You’ll be able too do it using only one single ticket for only 350 HUF (~€1) . You could of course also take the 100E express airport bus from (BUD) airport T2 directly to “Astoria”, but that bus is much more expensive - 2200 HUF (~€ 5,50) - and it’s literally packed with passengers & their luggage - always filled to the max - often w/o any seats left - standing up 40+ minutes with sweaty people & luggage pushing on you) then it’s an about ~8 minutes walk from there to the hotel. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby the hotel too, Burger King is literally next door and within 100 meters or so is a Lidl supermarket as well as an Aldi supermarket too. McDonald’s too is very near there. Across the street is a mall Corvin Palace which has another Spar supermarket inside. The biggest shopping mall - Arena Mall - which houses the only IMAX movie theater in the country is about 20 minutes walk from the hotel. I was really well taken care of by the hotel staff throughout my whole stay at the Ibis Budapest City Hotel and the staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful. From the moment I arrived I was instantly greeted by the receptionist at the Accor ALL priority welcome desk, I was immediately recognized as a Accor ALL Gold card holder and received the gold welcome drink voucher, they gave me a complimentary 1 hr 30 min early check in and I in addition they also gave me a very nice box of Pálinkás brand Premium chocolate bonbons, which I was very pleased with and found very impressive. I was allocated a room on the top seventh floor with view to the street and far away from the elevator, i turned out to be the corner room. I was very impressed with that the hotel staff clearly are reviewing each individual guest’s Accor ALL membership profile for their personal room preferences as well as they also honor specific requests, this is a perfect example for not all Ibis hotels are doing this. The hotel room was quite large and spacious and even though it was nearly 30 °C outside it was very nice and cool inside the room thanks to the excellent A/C that had been on prior to my arrival which also is a nice gesture. It was a standard Ibis hotel room with the signature usual Ibis fixtures, but I found it to be slightly bigger than the average Ibis standard room and the nice, fine and solid wooden floor also was a nice touch and it felt really good to walk on and that’s also something that stood out from the usual Ibis standard rooms. A laminated card was placed upon the very nice big and quite comfortable king size bed that was a welcome card that read that my room had been cleaned by Zsuzsanna who also wished that I would have a lovely day, another small but very nice feature that also made me feel happy and what also makes this Ibis hotel stand out from others. The room was in pristine condition and the cleanliness was impeccable by the way. The view from the windows were towards the Akácfa útca street and you could partially see into the building on the opposite side of the street and partially see in the corner the main Rákóczi útca street. I have read in previous reviews here on Tripadvisor about this hotel that You’re better off staying in a room not facing the street because of the supposedly disturbing traffic sounds and heavy night life loud noises, but I don’t had any problems with that. There’s the standard Ibis signature room features with a nice and lovely green leafy patterned desk. Right next to it a large white desk with a large free standing and not wall mounted Philips brand flat screen HD TV. The view from the HD TV channels was really crisp and good quality which yet again is a nice feature you don’t see in all Ibis hotels. Unfortunately there was no Chromecast or other wireless connectivity feature for the TV though. The bathroom was very clean and nice and comfortable with the standard Ibis signature interior with the nice big shower with glass curtain walls and door plus the usual robust fiberglass green Ibis signature bathroom sink and the bathroom of course also was equipped with the fine and lovely scented Accor/Ibis signature bathroom ”Rock Your Body”-soap/body wash/shampoo. The WiFi connection was excellent, fast and stable and reliable throughout the whole stay. I never made use of the hotel restaurant this time as I didn’t ate any breakfast and didn’t order any room service, but from the look of it, it seemed pretty good and the smell of the breakfast in the morning was very inviting, so I figure that the hotel restaurant is good too. I did however visited the hotel lobby bar for a glass of lovely Hungaria brand grand cuvée brut sparkling wine and the lobby bar is small but cozy and the staff there was also very good and service-minded. They had some special offers for both happy hour drinks and special drink offers for Accor ALL members, again nice features, but I only had the small bottle of the famous Hungaria grand cuvée brut as my welcome drink. On the day of leaving I was treated with a complimentary 2 hours late check out time to 14:00 hours, on account of my Accor ALL Gold membership, by the friendly receptionist, who also assisted me with the printing of my boarding pass, which both was very much appreciated, as I had a late evening flight out of (BUD) airport. In conclusion, I had an absolutely terrific good old time, a really good, super, good experience during my stay at the Ibis Budapest City Hotel. This might be a rather small Ibis hotel and might seem just ordinary, but I was very impressed by how well maintained itis, how all the different small details and special gestures really stand out from the other Ibis hotels. As well as the really good and friendly, service oriented staff who are very welcoming and well organized and who also seems to be genuinely enjoying their workplace and who also goes that extra mile to accommodate and see each individual guest, which is clearly noticeable here and not something that could be found in every other Ibis hotel either. Having stayed in over 40+ different Accor among them several other Ibis hotels, including another Ibis hotel in Budapest just before this, I can genuinely say that I found that it is something extra and special about this Ibis in particular that makes it such a good place. It also is very well located and offers great value for money and I would definitely recommend it and I would definitely be staying here again when I am going back to Budapest the next time. Thank You for a wonderful time and keep up the very good work!

The hotel is in a perfect location in the city centre close to all the major attractions of Budapest. Right next to the metro and close to the bus and tram links. The staff were amazing. The only minor concern was a little noisy at night but to be expected being in the party district. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast and airconditioning just what was needed in the heat. The lobby/bar area was nice and clean and plenty of space to wait. Check in and out times very reasonable. For the price an ideal stay.

Dear Simon, Thank you for your positive feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our central location and found the hotel clean and friendly. It's great that the breakfast and air conditioning met your needs. We appreciate your understanding about the noise, which can happen in such a lively area. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
