Very well located opposite a small park at Neues Rathaus - very qui and comfortable. Excellent sleep quality and very clean. I arrived early but I could leave my luggage and go for a stroll in the city. I was called 90 minutes before check-in time that the room was ready - excellent service. Breakfast is plentiful and very delicious. All in all everybody tried their best to make this a pleasant stay - absolutely recommendable.

First class location, great value for money, friendly helpful staff. My only criticism would be your lack of maintenance staff - our toilet wouldn’t stop flushing at 6 pm on Saturday evening. A very sympathetic lady on reception explained there were no staff to deal with an issue like this and as the hotel was 100% occupied we couldn’t change rooms. We spent the night listening to a permanently running toilet! Could you not have called a plumber?

We are delighted to read that you appreciated our excellent location, the value for money, and especially the friendliness and helpfulness of our team. Your kind words about our reception staff are greatly appreciated. At the same time, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the continuously running toilet in your room. We fully understand how frustrating it must have been to spend the night with this disturbance. Unfortunately, our in-house maintenance technician is only available on weekdays, as is the case in many hotels. Outside of these hours, our reception team does everything possible to assist our guests and find suitable solutions. In this particular situation, however, the hotel was fully occupied, which meant that we were unable to offer a room change. We would also like to explain that we do not call external technicians for such issues outside of our regular maintenance arrangements. We completely understand your concerns regarding the wasted water and regret that we were not able to resolve the issue during your stay. Please be assured that such defects are addressed by our maintenance team as soon as they are back on site. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We had (at the very least) a mixed experience. The hotel is in a good location, next to the new city Hall and just a few minutes walk to the city centre, in a quiet and nice area. However, although the ground floor has been clearly recently renovated, the rooms are very old and worn down, our room was very big but almost empty apart from the bed a and a small table. It did not feel welcoming. The air conditioning system is also old and very noisy. Fortunately it was not hot when we were there so we did not need it in the night. There was a brand new smart TV on the wall, but no connection to the internet, 90% of the channels were in German and it was not possible to cast from our own device (something that is now standard in 4star hotels). This may seem a trivial thing, but when travelling as a family with children it can make a big difference to the overall experience. The bathroom was OK, although having to jump in and out of the high bath to take a shower was very uncomfortable (and could be also unsafe). The toilet did not flush properly, we let the staff know, but one would expect that the cleaning staff should have picked on that. The room+bathroom were cleaned OK, but we found an empty beer bottle on the floor on our arrival, from previous guests. we left it well in sight by the entrance door, but in the 3 days we were there no one picked it up. The best feature of the room (and the only reason for the 6 points given in the overall rating) were definitely the beds, much newer than the rest of the room, very comfortable, including good pillows. The breakfast was also somehow disappointing, a very limited selection of bread and fresh fruit, especially, and overall, the quality of the products was lower than a standard 4star, apart form the coffee, which was very good. We arrived on Sunday evening tired after a long train trip and although we understand that the restaurant might now have a full menu, 60 euro for a bowl of soup out of a can, 2 reheated supermarket frozen pizzas and some hummus with bread seemed excessive. Overall, not what you would expect from a 4 star and from Mercure, especially when compared to similar hotels and cost, definitely not value for money.

Unfortunately, for any new projects or renovations, we are always dependent on budget approval from our corporate group. That means such a project is never easy to carry out. We’re doing our very best here, and as a result, we’ve secured approval for the funds needed for our facade and window renovations. We also apologize for the shortcomings you experienced with housekeeping, particularly regarding the bottle left on the floor and the toilet flushing issue. This is not the level of attention to detail we strive to provide, and we understand your disappointment. Furthermore, we are sorry that our breakfast selection and the dining experience on your arrival evening did not meet your expectations in terms of variety, quality, and value. Guest feedback is essential in helping us evaluate and improve our offerings. We regret that your overall impression did not reflect the standards we aim to deliver. Very low ceilings
