Having had an awful experience at the Novotel London Waterloo a couple of years ago and shockingly bad support from Accor’s customer services team, I had vowed to never stay in another Accor hotel. However, when a former colleague arranged a reunion at the Novotel in York and with that coincidentally falling within a day of my wife’s and my 30th wedding anniversary, we booked a junior suite at the hotel. The contrast could not have been greater. The hotel itself is fabulous. Our room overlooked the river (which was raging given the recent bad weather) and has clearly been renovated recently. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom is exquisite, with both a full sized bath and a walk in shower. I had made the booking via Sarah, though most of my correspondence with Rowen. I had mentioned the anniversary to her, and she had arranged for a small plate of fruit and chocolates to be waiting for us in our room with a welcoming message congratulating my wife and me. It was a very sweet touch. All the staff we met were friendly and efficient and any request was responded to promptly and with a smile. We were able to leave our car in the car park after check out to enable us to explore the city which is just a short stroll away. All in all it was a perfect trip and we will definitely return to the Novotel York. Though I confess I am in no hurry to go back to Novotel’s London Waterloo hotel which was at the opposite end of the quality scale. It just goes to show that staff make all the difference and Novotel’s York hotel has a fantastic team in place.

Stayed here with a group of friends whilst visiting York, it was exceptionally clean, the food, especially the breakfast was especially good, with quality fare. Staff were very helpful and attentive, nothing being too much trouble, we'll certainly return as it was far better than any travellodge or premier inn

Nice hotel good location and staff pleasant but a few bits bothered me ! First paying £18.95 a night for disabled parking is a bit much in my opinion , the sofabed for a room for 3 adults is a modern shape oval sofa that just folds flat and a sheet that doesnt fit it on top with a very thin quilt no matress on it ! The window was left open one day by the housekeeper and when we got in out of the cold the room was cold and a wet puddle on the wondowsill.our bathroom door was faulty and myself and my elderly mum got stuck from the inside .i reported it but noone got back to us.On a more posative note the pool are was lovely although you have to book in advance .

This is turning into one of my favourite hotels. I love York as a city and the Novotel is a great base from which to explore. The rooms are excellent (an upgrade is always welcome!), the breakfast outstanding and the staff friendly throughout. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

The hotel accomodation, room, servise were all very good. Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Meals very good. Booking was chaotic, confused and very poor.
