Useful when travelling south, as it is a day's relaxing drive to the Cote d'Azur. Nevertheless, it is clean and comfortable with efficient staff. The swimming pool looks inviting- unfortunately my trunks were well packed away

Not clean. Nails and hairspray in the bath room. Uncomfortable bed. No air-conditioning possible so 27 degrees in the room. Very noisy road in front.

Very convenient location for a night stay in a long trip (it is close to the A7 highway, no more than 5 min away). Kids loved the spacious room (in an annex building), and there is a big supermarket literally in front of the hotel.

Room was too hot & stuffy

The Ibis Valence Sud is a great location, just off the motorway, and on the outskirts of the city. The room was hot and stuffy, and the bed had a too heavy duvet made of synthetic material. The shutter on the window was partially open allowing light in all night, as I was on the ground floor. I seemed to be also located near an external air conditioning unit. As a result of these factors I slept very poorly. On a positive note, I ate in the restaurant, I found the quality good and the price reasonable. The staff both in the restaurant and at reception both efficient and friendly.

Usual appealing points - good price, location, free car parking and general room facilities. A very modern restaurant serving excellent breakfasts was also appreciated. Only downside was that our room had a carpet.

Hotel a bit tired, could do with a makeover. Heating in room didn't work and when I asked about it I was told it was all of the hotel and that they would send a heater up. So, a wonky old one legged heater arrived! It worked! Bed was wonderfully comfy. Four stars given because the restaurant is superb. We both enjoyed a really tasty and well presented meal, served by lovely friendly waitress.

Booked this hotel as a convenient place to break our journey south. The Satnav got us there easily. The hotel was clean and comfortable with helpful staff. Pleased to have a restaurant for the evening meal. Lovely patisserie across the road (not for dinner!)

We stayed in the Ibis Sud in Valence, France. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Their English was much better than our French. There was a menu available in English. The room was very clean and was just a five minute drive into the centre of town and found the car park as directed by Reception. Would highly recommend it.

The room was nice, the bed very nice. Parking right in front of the hotel.. down side: the room had some bad smell of cold smoke although this was a non-smoker room. In addition there was an ashtray in that room. This is an invitation to smokers, even if the sign at the door says: no smoking. Smoke was also smellable from a different room (as well non-smoking).

We have stayed in many Ibis hotels in France and have always found them to be clean, comfortable, with reasonable food & particularly good breakfasts. This one definitely did not meet the normal standard. The back of the bathroom door and the tiles were dirty. There were no glasses, not even plastic ones, provided. The room was far too hot and the air con. not effective. We originally booked "half board" but there were only 3 choices of main course for dinner, 2 of which contained gorgonzola cheese and the other was beef, none of which we liked. We changed to "a la carte" only to find that the choice was still poor as was the resulting meal. The salad bar consisted of limp lettuce, tasteless tomatoes, tasteless diced ham, tasteless diced, rubbery cheese & even tasteless mozzarella. The only thing with any real flavour was the beetroot and the olive bread. The main course was overcooked and dry. The buffet breakfast offered a very limited choice of cereal, no fresh fruit, the same tasteless ham & cheese from the salad bar the previous evening, sliced bread and the cheapest jam I've been offered in a long time.

The first Ibis - Lausanne Crissier surprised me by trying to charge for the car parking (10SF which was resolved by showing their website to them) but the bed was as I expected from previous Ibis stays. This Ibis in Valence gave me a room the had a bed that was dead. No spring and sagged toward the centre of the mattress. My room ws changed without too much fuss but I found similar mattress in the second room but not quite as bad so I slept there. Its manufacture was like it was densely filled with straw, I doubt it was but it was curious. I had a reasonable nights sleep but I am put off booking that place again. Consistency is a fundamental part of a brand and the loyalty they crave for.

Ideal position just off the motorway and very easy to find. Evening meal and breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly. Security very good in the car park and the hotel, had to have a room card to get the lift up to your floor!
