Dazzled1062 Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

A one night stay on the way through France. Chosen mainly for its secure parking in an underground car park. As other reviews have said the service is rather cold. Polite but lacking any real interaction. There was refurbishment work going on at the time of our stay with bits of plasterboard missing on the corridor walls and protective coverings on carpets in the public areas. If possible choose a room at the rear of the hotel. It’s noisy at the front with the sound of over excited students leaving bars and the trams that run past the front of the building. Personally I found the bed too hard and uncomfortable. Others had different opinions. Wasn’t impressed that the breakfast room wasn’t cleared during breakfast service with used crockery and cutlery left on many of the tables. It looked scrappy and suggested a lack of care.

We were aware via email that refurbishment would be taking place in the hotel. However, the disruption was so intense that we requested a transfer to another hotel in the Accor group. The transfer of our booking was facilitated quickly and seamlessly, for which we were very grateful. The scale of refurbishment in the hotel should have necessitated total closure for a short period to allow the contractors full 24 hour access to complete the refurbishment in the shortest time possible.

We always enjoy staying at the Mercure when we come to Angers to visit family and friends. The rooms are comfortable, the hotel is quiet and well located; and the front desk staff is professional and friendly.
