I'm an ACCOR Gold and stay in many of their hotels annually. The hotel was easy to find with GPS (but not well sign posted, which helps) and close to the motorway. It was clearly busy with customers when we arrived at 8.30pm. Check-in was swift and friendly. we had booked two prestige rooms. Both were recently renovated, of a good size with nice bathrooms. One of them stank (a horrible fish smell), likely the glue that had been used to stick the carpet. We'd opened the window (-1C outside!), hoping to let the smell out whilst we were at dinner. It hadn't had any real effect by the time we returned. Unfortunately, at 10pm there was nobody around reception and I gave up waiting after 10 mins, as I was tired from 11h driving that day. The room really shouldn't have been let out to customers. Dinner was not good. The manager was told us they were full, even though I could see empty tables. I asked what we could do, and he shrugged - they were full. So I asked if he did room service. He said yes. Then I asked if we could eat at the empty table to the side of the bar. He shrugged! So we ate there. Our food was disappointing - an opinion shared by other guests around us too. In contrast, breakfast was superb! Both in terms of the variety and quality of the food on offer.

However, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. The unpleasant smell in one of the rooms is clearly unacceptable, the carpet was recently changed and maybe the glue smell is still here. Please accept our apologies for the lack of availability at reception later in the evening, which prevented us from addressing the issue immediately after your long day of travel. This point has been reviewed internally to ensure better evening coverage. We are also very sorry to hear about your disappointing dinner experience. We had a lot of clients on this evening and unfortunately we had to stop the reservations at one time in order to maintain our quality of service. Your comments have been shared with our restaurant management team so that corrective actions can be taken, both in terms of service attitude and food quality. We hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you again in the future, so we can provide you with the level of service and comfort you are entitled to expect as a loyal Accor guest and fully restore your confidence. I had an amazing stay at Mercure! The staff were welcoming and the overall atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and enjoyable. If I could suggest one small improvement, it would be the addition of a small gym or fitness area. Having a space for a quick workout would make the experience even better. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!
