Well located, with a recently renovated room, but the overall infrastructure feels rather old and does not really meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. There was also a residual smell of stale cigarette smoke in the room. The air conditioning was noisy and not very effective. Overall, the location and renovated room were positive points, hotel staff is great but several aspects need improvement for a true 4-star experience.

We’ve been guests at the Mercure in Annemasse for many years because it’s convenient for our Rome-Paris trip, and we’ve noticed a gradual and steady decline in the quality of our stay. The private parking lot is definitely a plus, but the parking spaces are tight, and be careful when maneuvering if you arrive at night because there are no streetlights to illuminate the area, which is very dark. The rooms are nice (though certainly not what you’d expect from a four-star hotel); unfortunately, however, we found the bed with worn, yellowed sheets and pillowcases, with a few small stains and some hair at the foot of the bed. Breakfast is presented nicely, but in a somewhat scattered manner (e.g., crepes and pancakes are on a separate table set apart from the main table), and some dishes looked unappetizing (e.g., the scrambled eggs and bacon were soggy and “pale”). The staff is truly the only positive aspect: they’re always friendly and helpful, even for guests who arrive in the middle of the night, like us.

Comfortable and noiseless. It would be nice to have body lotion in the room, I asked for it but never appeared. Also it would be nice to have amenities to make the stay more comfortable, specially relevant for stays of +2 nights.

I had a pleasant stay at Hôtel Mercure Annemasse Porte de Genève. The location is convenient if you don’t mind a bit of walking: it takes about 25 minutes to reach the tram that goes directly into Geneva. The area is calm, and getting to the city feels easy once you’re on the tram. The staff were extremely responsive and helpful throughout my stay. Every interaction felt warm and professional, and they were quick to assist with anything I needed. I also enjoyed the hotel’s restaurant. The food was well prepared, and the overall dining experience was comfortable and relaxed. Overall, a good stay with attentive service, decent dining, and straightforward access to Geneva.

A lot of the staff there seem to be trainees and not sure what they are doing most of the time. Or they are not very good at English speaking. Breakfast lacks variety. Nothing changed during my three days there.

I'm an ACCOR Gold and stay in many of their hotels annually. The hotel was easy to find with GPS (but not well sign posted, which helps) and close to the motorway. It was clearly busy with customers when we arrived at 8.30pm. Check-in was swift and friendly. we had booked two prestige rooms. Both were recently renovated, of a good size with nice bathrooms. One of them stank (a horrible fish smell), likely the glue that had been used to stick the carpet. We'd opened the window (-1C outside!), hoping to let the smell out whilst we were at dinner. It hadn't had any real effect by the time we returned. Unfortunately, at 10pm there was nobody around reception and I gave up waiting after 10 mins, as I was tired from 11h driving that day. The room really shouldn't have been let out to customers. Dinner was not good. The manager was told us they were full, even though I could see empty tables. I asked what we could do, and he shrugged - they were full. So I asked if he did room service. He said yes. Then I asked if we could eat at the empty table to the side of the bar. He shrugged! So we ate there. Our food was disappointing - an opinion shared by other guests around us too. In contrast, breakfast was superb! Both in terms of the variety and quality of the food on offer.

We are pleased to read that you found the hotel easy to access, that your check-in experience was smooth and friendly, and that you appreciated the size, renovation, and comfort of our Prestige rooms, as well as the quality of our breakfast. However, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. The unpleasant smell in one of the rooms is clearly unacceptable, the carpet was recently changed and maybe the glue smell is still here. I had an amazing stay at Mercure! The staff were welcoming and the overall atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and enjoyable. If I could suggest one small improvement, it would be the addition of a small gym or fitness area. Having a space for a quick workout would make the experience even better. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!
