I stayed at the Sofitel in Melbourne on Collins with a group of employees from my work in Brisbane. The lovely team members at the Sofitel were more than accommodating to any need or request, they respected my privacy as well & provided all the information they possibly could have. I could not have been more satisfied with the stay, the food, the prices of in room dining, the 24 hour concierge who was always available to help and the ease of their services and how simple they made everything from check in to check out and also they bond policy and procedures and returning it back to me. It made my life so much easier that even though the employees were diverse range of nationalities, there was never a language barrier with any of them they spoke English very well which is important!! The view was amaziiiinnggg and so were the facilities and Function rooms at the Sofitel, also the standard of cleanliness the hotel had was 10/10. Could not have been more impressed, see you next time!!!

We had an adequate stay at the property but the rooms definitely need a serious refresh. On first impression, the rooms look great - very well appointed. However, as you start to use things in the room you realise it’s showing its age. The mattress on our bed was very old and uncomfortable and desperately in need of replacing. Doesn’t make for a good nights sleep. The bathrooms were very poor. The toilet seat was positioned at a sloping angle when you sat on it (due to its age) and the toilet flush was intermittent and required several attempts to flush. It’s a long time since I had to stand in a bath tub for a shower especially in a “luxury” hotel. The lack of mixer tap meant it was impossible to get the correct water temperature - it was either scolding hot or too cold. Having a shower wasn’t much fun. Overall, it was a very average experience and not sure I would rush back until the rooms have been renovated and modernised.

Whilst the hotel isn't perfect, it's the closest I've had in Australia; and a rating less than 5 would be insulting comparing to other Accor hotels (looking at you Pullman Citycentre). Throughout the stay, all staff were extremely polite, well groomed, proactively asked for Accor Explorer discounts, and sprinkled in some great French. The hotel itself is beautiful all throughout, and the junior suite was excellent! The French style doors from the corner room offered exceptional views and felt like a mini trip abroad. Bed was comfortable, room was well laid out, and didn't hear noise from any other guests. Club Lounge was the best Accor Lounge I've experienced! I tried to be polite and restrict myself from eating more smoked salmon, and they just kept bringing it out. Excellent selection of included cocktails, with staff keen eyed to see an empty drink. The No35 restaurant was alright, French cuisine but nothing special. Gazpacho soup was a bit of a let down but the beef dish was great. The hotel bar outside the club lounge was also unexpectedly great. Excellent cocktails for Accor drink vouchers, great bar snacks, and the oysters I purchased were pretty good - not really oyster season at the moment. Again, also a beautiful bar to look at. Valet parking was great, very busy but polite, and bottled water when leaving was a fabulous idea that was really appreciated. Only let down was the common issue of the Nespresso machine needing descaling, and a loose power socket. Personal preference for rainfall showers but it is what it is. Little bit of room literature is out of date, referencing in room tablet .etc Would absolutely stay here again, and will bring the family next time for a second room. Well done!
