Thieving staff (AirPods)

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Thieving staff!!! Left my AirPods on the side table, manager said they aren’t there, for several weeks now the AirPods have been travelling from a near by block of flats to the hotel several times a week. No compensation, no replacement AirPods = never staying at a Mercure again. Zero stars not available I’ve even sent screenshots of my AirPods at the hotel then at the home address going back and forth, but management are making excuses for the thieves. Useless staff, cold food (7am on the dot) and thieves for staff. AVOID!

Chilled two nights away.

I booked this hotel back in September 2025 as I’ve had previous dealings with Mercure hotels and never had any issues. Before we arrived, we were aware of poor reviews relating to heating issues. I called up on the Tuesday as we were arriving on the Friday, I was reassured the heating was being fixed. When we arrived, we immediately knew the heating had been fixed, the hotel was lovely and warm. Our room was lovely and clean, a comfy bed with working heating, if anything, it was likely too warm at times. I wouldn’t say the location is central to the city centre, but it’s not an issue if you are able to walk and will take you 10/15 mins. Would book again.

Booked here for my girlfriends birthday. When we got there the friendly staff booked us in and we went up to the room. When we got there the room was freezing and there was an error code on the thermostat and there was no heating in the room. We back to reception and they said there was a problem with the heating and they are currently fixing it. We eventually got another room after waiting in the bar area and in that room there was no heating either. So we took our bags back down to reception and got a full refund as we could not stop there. This ruined my girlfriend’s birthday night and we had to book somewhere else last minute. Would never stay here again and I recommend no one books here.

Staff are absolutely fantastic, so so friendly and kind and helpful. Rooms kept very clean and big, although my girlfriend’s family’s room smelled of wee/feet? apart from that amazing! huge bathroom too. highly highly recommend this hotel, very close to city center too.

Currently wiring this review as sitting awake in the hotel bed at 5am wrapped in two layers of clothing and a water bottle. The room is THAT cold me and my mother have not been able to sleep. This was booked as a suprise , I didn’t get to read the reviews before booking, how I wish I knew before coming. Every issue we have contacted desk and been told “it should work” I called downstairs also after arriving to contact about heating twice (no answer) I then went downstairs and ask and We where told there was a problem with heating which I feel the company should legally have tell their customers that their hearing isn’t working before spending their hard earned money on a room that feels like your outside instead of a luxury hotel. especially 4 flights up during winter!) If you have any medical or underlying medical conditions and you need any type of HEAT , don’t come here. This won’t benefit your health at all. I have physical struggles where I need heat, these hotel conditions and atmosphere won’t benefit you mentally or physically if your the same. Man at desk offered to drop a mini heater which was lovely if him Turns out if ur not sitting DIRzeCTLY beside it, u won’t feel it. The draft in the room takes out every single bit of heat: NO WIFI Complain to the desk and was told “it should work” and to try connect again. Full night in a hotel; freezing and no wifi and has to use data for the full night which I had to also pay for and not sleep because of a rock solid bed also. Don’t come here if you don’t want major disappointed A hotel experience is meant to make your holiday stress free and easy breezy to come back to after a good day. We are both now freezing and exhausted for our day ahead with no sleep or data now lol and Couldn’t be more unsatisfied with this hotel and their rooms. Paid to be Freezing cold all night with Rock solid beds No WiFi unless bottom floor. Sounds like a waste of money for a boring night. I’d much rather have stayed home.
