There was an initial problem regarding some confusion over the booking. However the management went above and beyond to rectify the issue and compensate for any inconvenience. The staff were generally very helpful, hard it’s a great asset Location so working and welcoming. My family and I have been coming to the hotel over the years, since it was “The Thistle”, and have enjoyed its comfortable bedrooms, large lounge/ bar and pool. In addition, its location is very convenient when visiting family because of its proximity to the motorway and to the local area. The large car park is also useful. I understand the hotel is undergoing a “soft renovation” which I am sure will be beneficial to some areas. Overall I really enjoyed my stay in the hotel and look forward to staying again the next time I am visiting family in St Helens.

Location is great for events at Leigh sports village, however Hotel room is a little tired, mould in bathrooms around bath and towel rails, and air con not working in ours. Spa is similar, mould all over the ceiling, dirty air vent across roof. Food was good but took ages to come and quite expensive. Sadly despite not being part of the wedding party our room was right next to the wedding reception with loud music still ongoing until 1am which kept us awake - should have been told this upon arrival.

We paid for an upgrade to a suite, it was not worth it at all, the room was very average, shower was blocked, air con wasn't working and the 2 plug sockets near the mirror weren't working as well! On the plus side, the staff were really nice, handyman did his best to fix stuff, he did unblock the shower but not the sockets or the aircon. He brought us an extra fan, which helped a bit.
