Armony Marival Resort & Spa Punta de Mita - MGallery collection 5 stars

We chose to stay at Marival Armony to celebrate my husband’s retirement, and one of the main determining factors in staying there was that they were an all inclusive, adults only resort. Our first trip there was in October of 2023, and we purchased a VIP 3-year membership, beginning in January of 2024. We made one other trip to Marival Armony in August of 2024. Both trips were great where we were eagerly greeted upon our arrival, escorted to the front desk, welcomed, and checked in with no issues. We were then escorted over to the concierge desk where we again were greeted, welcomed, and had the lay of the land explained to us, discussed restaurant options, outings, activities, events, etc. We were then taken to our room with our luggage, settled, and had a tour of the room and what it and the resort offered. Each day we were greeted, welcomed, talked to, and began to become friendly with the staff. Every person we encountered on both trips seemed happy to be working there, and glad we were there. Service was amazing, and we felt like they cared that we were members, and catered to the VIP status of our membership. We throughly enjoyed both trips, and actually considered upgrading on our last trip in August, but decided to wait until after a trip back in 2025. I received an email from Marival Armony that as of April 2025, the resort would now welcome families and children of all ages. We were furious. The ONLY reason we joined the membership in 2023 was because it was an adults only resort, which now would be completely ruined and opposite of how we want to travel. It was especially maddening as there are two other sister resorts, Emotions and Distinct, that are 20 minutes away, and both cater to families and children of all ages…this made zero sense to us as why they’d now make that change to Armony. We had planned to reach out as we felt they were in breach of our contract, but due to a cross country move, time got away from us, and we didn’t address it as planned. In August of 2025, I had been planning an annual girl’s vacation with a dear friend of 25 years, that I haven’t seen in almost a year. I had expressed to her how great our resort was, so we had been discussing and planning this trip before the email notification I received in March. Once I found out, I did tell her the bad news about the resort and was happy to find another resort for us to go to. However, I did tell her that when my husband and I had gone in August of 2024, the resort was so slow, operating at 25% capacity, and that we basically had the resort to ourselves, so she/we agreed to give it a try. Upon trying to schedule the trip with the resort, which is a phone call since their website does not work, at all, they tried to downgrade my room from what it should be due to our VIP membership, and the all inclusive fee, which we’re supposed to get 20% off of, was close to 200.00 more, each than it was in 2024. They claimed I was getting the 20% discount, but I still don’t think we did. It took several times for the gal to send the link to me to pay for that, and to confirm the room all together. At our arrival to the resort, which I had hyped up for 2 years, nobody welcomed us, we had to pull our own luggage to the front desk, and the gal behind the counter said nothing, just looked at us as if she had no idea why we were there. I said, “Hello, I’d like to check in please”. She asked for my name, spoke in Spanish to the other gal at the counter, and put down 2 teal colored wrist bands for us. I then told her that we are VIP members, and that the wrist bands should be dark blue. She again spoke in Spanish the the other gal, who said, “members”, and she got the other wrist bands. We then were told to go across the lobby to a desk, no escort, no welcome, no drinks offered, nothing. We went over to the desk, the guy put our bands on, and very quickly circled areas on the map, and gave us a restaurant list, and then we were taken to our room…which was the correct type of room for our membership, unlike in August of 2024 where they put us in the wrong type of room, and I had them change it, which ended up being the exact same room we had this year. We changed, went to the Blend bar, and again, no welcome, no can I help you, nothing, just blank stares. We got a drink, and headed to the main pool. The entire resort was crowded, loud, children screaming and running, and parents not doing one thing to control their kids. The main pool was absolutely disgusting. Bugs and leaves floating everywhere, and the water was anything but clear. It was cloudy and murky, and you couldn’t hardly see your feet when standing. Children climbing on the swim up bar, using rafts and pool noodles, whereas it clearly states there are no flotation devices allowed. Again, parents not even around, let alone watching their children. It was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like the previous two times, and I was incredibly embarrassed for my friend to see this. There was supposed to be a few adults only pools, but there was only 1…tucked away in a corner with no airflow, no view, no bar or food service, no bathroom, and every piece of patio furniture was literally broken, mismatched, and dangerous. The pool there was more clear than the main pool, but still had bugs and leaves in it. Absolutely zero ambiance, and again, I was mortified that I had brought a friend here. A older man brought in a kid to the adult pool, who ran yelling, and jumped into the pool. Since no staff comes back there, I had to go over and tell him that this was an adults only pool. He was kind, and they left. There was also 2 days where the activities people came into the adult pool area to do some bound bath situation, which was disrupting, and completely unnecessary as there are literally 5 other pools they could use other than the ONLY adult pool. At the restaurants that were open, the food was subpar, at best. Nothing like before. For what we paid for the all inclusive, we hardly ate, and found that the only decent thing was the outdoor breakfast, or pizza at Blend. Nobody was friendly, at all. In fact, for 2 days, and 3 different times, the “greeter” at the buffet asked for my room number, which I gave, and they promptly picked up the phone, called the room, hung up, and told me that I gave them the wrong room number, which I had not. She called again, and very rudely said, “That is not your room, that room is under (insert Spanish names here).” Then she and her male coworker spoke in Spanish and took us to our table. That happened 2 other times. While standing in line to be seated, that never happened to anyone in front of us, or behind us. We did reserve lounge chairs in the VIP area at the big pool for probably 4 days, and we ended up leaving early every time due to the epic mess around the VIP area with kids swim floaties, shoes, towels, squirt guns, etc. There was also next to no service for drinks or food, but we’d see them running around the to rest of the pool. In the last 2 trips we had, there was a server basically dedicated to the VIP area. We had to go to the swim up bar and fight the children there to even get a drink. There was one day we just stayed in the room as it was easier than being absolutely irritated and discouraged outside at any of the pools. All in all each day was worse than the next, and the changes they’ve made by allowing families has absolutely ruined this resort and this experience with a friend I only get to see once a year. The embarrassment I felt, and her constant complaining and comparison to her timeshare resort was upsetting. I will NEVER go to this resort again, or any resort affiliated to Marival Armony, Emotions, or Distinct. I plan to post my review to every site I can think of, and make sure people know what they’re in for if they’re considering a trip to Marival Armony, not just as a adult, but in general.

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort- because the layout is spread out quite a bit with so much greenery, it feels very secluded and not crowded. Food was really good, staff was so fun and very attentive.

The food is wonderful and the beach is clean, friendly and beautiful to look at. The restaurant options are limited. This is the first resort I have stayed at that made me sign a "check" for each meal. I always had to ask for it, and it prolonged my ability to just get up and leave when I wanted to. The landscaping and natural greenery of the jungle is stunning and truly feels immersive. The entertainment team could use some work. Its a small team, but we tried to wait around for evening events to hype up, and just never felt like anything they said would happen, ever did, so we usually just headed back to our room.

We really enjoyed our stay at your resort. The food is very good. The amenities are very nice and the beach is beautiful. We got great service in the pool area and in the restaurants.
