My husband and I spent 12 nights at the Marival Emotions. The resort is very clean and the grounds are nicely laid out and it is easy to get around. Our room was adequate and well maintained except for the absence of a face cloth on most days. The beach access is good but the vendors are allowed to wander in amongst the resort guests. The staff were all friendly and courteous. We also liked the quiet adult pool area. Our main complaint is with the restaurant reservation system and the lack of options for meals, particularly in the evening and if you are not a Club Member. No one wants to spend their vacation having to line up at 7am (and only on certain days) and wait two hours to book a reservation at one of two a la carte restaurants and then be lucky only to get a 9:30 pm reservation. Some nights only one a la carte was open and on one Sunday night the only evening meal options were the Silk (requiring a reservation), the buffet at the Casa Bella or the pizza place. The Amalfi restaurant was excellent but the service at Silk was extremely slow. We enjoyed the special events: the "white party" on the beach and the Valentine's Day cocktail party. All events could have been better advertised. The all inclusive drinks were very watered down. The Spa is in an obscure location and its reception area is less than welcoming. It could do with a makeover. We found the equipment in the Gym is old and could be updated. Nice that there are three pickleball courts and a nice tennis facility. We enjoyed the use of bicycles and the great bike paths. Be aware of the sales pitch for buying into their membership program. It is extremely aggressive.

After arriving, we had to wait 45 min to get checked in. While non-members got right through. We stayed in room 9108 and it was dirty, old and outdated. No electricity in bedroom and had to call to get hot water. Couldn’t get into most of the restaurants with reservations. They were all booked up and I had to leave a review for Sofia on google or I couldn’t get a reservation into Silk. Ridiculous!!! After spending $26,000 to join, I made a huge mistake by joining and will never spend another penny at Emotion! The worst Méxican experience ever at an all inclusive!! I told other members of our experience and they said they suffered the same issues. So, I’m not alone. To spend $26,000 and can not eat at a restaurant of my choosing is ridiculous and shows me you could care less about the members! We brought we us 2 other guests that were not members and they had the same issues. Dirty rooms, no towels, etc. Needless to say it was a horrible experience and will never drop another penny in your horrible facilities!!

Things we really liked: the pool areas and activities, the nighttime entertainment, beach access. Things that were okay: the rooms, the restaurant variety, restaurant staff & servers. Things we didn't like: - Food quality was only okay to poor. The best was the a la carte dinner, but we could only eat at La Pergola. The "premium" restaurant options were booked during our entire stay, which is frankly ridiculous. - Difficult access to water. Unlike every other resort we've stayed at, no bottle water was available in the room or elsewhere. Water was hard to come by, which is silly and lent an overall air of cheapness to the place. There were some water dispensers near the rooms that were usually empty, and some self-serve carafes around some bars. - No cafe. Every other resort we've stayed at has had a cafe that was open very long hours, so at almost any time we could go and get a nice coffee drink, ice cream or pastries for the kids, juices, etc. Here there was nothing like that. There was a tiny place with one flavor of "ice cream", and coffee was hard to come by. There was a for-pay Starbucks in the lobby bar that we found later, but it was pretty bare-bones. - Overall feeling of cheapness. Towel cards, having to check out equipment for games like mini golf or air hockey, not providing water or snacks in the rooms, having to pay for late checkout. All made it feel like a sub-premium experience. Overall, I don't think we would come back to this resort. The only thing that we really loved was the entertainment. The staff were excellent, extremely hard-working (you'd see the performers working at the towel dispenser or teens club the next day), and talented.

Please be assured that our Executive Housekeeping Manager is personally following up on your comments to ensure dispensers are consistently refilled and properly monitored. In reference to coffee service, we were genuinely surprised by your remarks, as we offer a daily coffee break starting at 6:30 a.m. outside La Pergola Restaurant and at our main buffet, Casa Bella. Additionally, from 7:00 a.m. onward and throughout the restaurants’ service hours, guests may request coffee directly from their server. We also provide included coffee service at Mirabel Bar in the main lobby until midnight. As an optional service with additional cost, Starbucks Café is available at Lobby Volare. We regret if this information was not clearly communicated during your stay. We also apologize for the challenges you experienced with restaurant reservations and other services, as it is never our intention for any guest to feel inconvenienced. Your feedback is truly valuable and helps us identify areas where we can improve. While we understand your overall impression, we sincerely appreciate your constructive comments and your recognition of our entertainment team. Beautiful beach and pools. Entertainment and rooms were good. The food is not great. The buffet has limited options and the protein sources were not appealing at all. Limited Mexican options, no guacamole the whole week. Specialty restaurants are better but still not the best but it’s a pain to book them. Desserts are flavourless. I struggled to find something I wanted to eat at every meal.
