I booked for 3 nights. I have never been so glad to get home and degrime myself from my stay. The only things clean were the towels. The room stunk, the carpet was in need of a wash. I wore shoes the whole time I was in the room. I thought I would get sick from the filth on the air conditioner. Cutlery rusty. I kept the bathroom door closed because of the smell coming out of the drains. No internet so only free to air on the tv. Each time I passed reception someone was complaining about something. People were getting locked out of their rooms because their cards stopped working. I’ve stayed in Mantra Hotels before but Castle Hill is a disgrace and embarrassment for the chain.

The list of things that are awful is never ending but here are a few. The Balcony sliding door was broken - it cannot be locked, anyone could just break in, if they did they'd turn around and leave though. It is located in an industrial estate with most rooms facing industrial units and a car repair workshop (they start at 7am panel beating) plus the Business' Skips get emptied during the night all night long. Floodlights shine into the room (And the curtains are too small for the windows so the floodlights shine in) To give you an idea the "reception" is actually in the car park - like a car wash in some dodgy shopping centre, and the fact I had to step over a dead bird outside reception was warning enough this was going to be horrid. It was still there the next day. There's mould on the curtains and windows - and they are hanging off due to broken rails. The Carpets and the sofa are sticky and stained, the furniture is Opp Shop rejects at best, peeling varnish on the chairs, random nails and pins in the walls, presumably where pictures had been and never replaced. There's mould in the kitchen, bathroom, the bathroom smells of urine, Filthy and rusty cutlery, damaged counter tops, I had to boil the kettle to clean anything I used. Actually I went to the shops to buy spray disinfectant and cleaned the room myself. Shockingly there isn't even a mattress protector (pretty basic requirement for a hotel) when I checked there were stains on the mattress, there was no duvet or blanket, I had to request 2 times for blankets which took an hour for reception to get, just to shield myself from the stained mattress which is so hard with springs sticking through it, I then had to sleep on what felt like 10 year old lumpy broken pillows.. Needless to say I didn't feel refreshed the next day. I wished I had slept in my car! If it was a hot day I would have as there is no air con in the bedroom!! How this is rated a 4 star should be illegal. Totally False advertising the rooms look NOTHING like the website photos.

The card lock system related in us getting 3 newly progammed keys, staff member was very helpful reprogramming the key cards. Bathroom was less than clean a few areas obviously not recently cleaned recently in addition to obvious mold. Drain in front of toilet needa a flush and clean
