61Maddie Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

Signed in on Friday 11 November for 3 night stay as my son was getting married. We had a lovely dinner & breakfast then I was driven off to make up & hairdressers. Soon the wedding came that afternoon & it was held at Fagan Park, way out north. I was thankful for the tissues that where supplied by someone & next minute they where married & off they went to sign the register. Back at the Mercure hotel, Rouse Hill when we decided to leave soon after the brides parents, we slowly came home to the hotel & decided to have a bottle of semi sauv blanc wine with 3 glasses to our room. It was about 8.30pm as we slowly sipped our wine, occasionally filling it with ice but soon it was finished & I went to my room & hit the sack. The next day I rang my friends & then the breakfast area but no answer! So I quickly fixed myself up & gave my friends another call & yes they answered! So we soon met & had a late breakfast which we talked about the wedding & how it was nice that I invited them, as my late husband would have enjoyed the decision of this couple! In returning back to our room, my friends where given extra time to pack but that soon came & soon they where driving home. I met my daughter with her young son along with the new married couple to have a nice dinner. But things went from bad to rotten & we left as the young asian waiter has no manners, to my family being served, the drinks ending up in everyone’s meal, to us walking out & my son asking me to make sure I stay here! Was out of their sight & the receptionist said they have gone, so I took a deep breath & headed back over to speak to the senior in charge! I did & even had proof to show him as know one had even come to clean up the dripping mess, through 5 plates of food & onto the floor! The senior in charge was shocked & couldn’t believe the mess & I was polite & said, the new couple have paid for the meaI & now its full of our drink, so they have gone home! After apologising he made the staff start to clean up & he handed me the notes of the meal! I said thank you & went straight back to the Mercure Hotel, Rouse Hill. The next morning I went to reception & explained what happened at the restaurant & I would like a coffee. Polite Ress & Shraddha said one would walk with me, so I made it to a chair & table & soon had a coffee with bacon & egg to follow. I said thank you to Ress & again to Ress & Shraddha when I walked back. I finished packing my bag pulled it out & handed my card in & paid what I owed & waited for a taxi. It was very nice of Shraddha to even bring me a small paper cup of water but I needed it, then soon my taxi arrived & drove me into town.

If you consider Rouse hill a destination... It is in a bad area, next to one of Sydney's loudest and most violent pubs - The Fiddler, so no I do not agree with that.

We stayed there for 9 nights (so not a cheap stay in the middle of nowhere..) mainly because my children live in the area, and it is convenient, but far from ideal.. The staff couldn't make up their mind if the House keeping crew worked until 1,2 or 3pm - we received different answers every single time we asked for our room to be serviced as we flew in from overseas, and stayed on European timelines. It always came across, especially form the guys at the front desk, as if they are doing us a favor! We ended up organizing our tiny room (yes they only have small rooms) by ourselves most days.. The music from the pub carried on until 3am every weekend day, and because of the Queen's memorial day public holiday, also did the same on that day - it was excruciating! Too loud, drunk idiots everywhere, and no rest for anyone.. You can't open a door or window, so the whole place is stale with old recycled air which is not good for people with respiratory issues - when we highlighted this to the front desk, they said, sorry, that's just the way it is, if we want fresh air, we should go stand outside..

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. To note, as we are a small hotel in the middle of nowhere (in your own words), Housekeeping is available for four hours daily between 9am and 1pm. I am sorry to hear that this may not coincide well with you recovering from European Time, however we do our best to assist all guests when housekeeping is requested outside these hours, even if it means requesting a housekeeper about to finish to stay back to service your room - and provide alternatives like replenishment of towels and amenities if this is not possible. Openable windows are not always common for hotels, and this is something we do not feature or advertise on any platform. We are sorry if you expected this as norm, and regret to hear you found this unsuitable for your stay. The same goes for porterage of luggages - as a small team at the desk, we handle phone calls, reservations for both the Hotel and The Fiddler, guests checking in and out and the general management of the housekeeping team and the hotel. For this reason, we are unable to vacate the desk for an extended amount of time. We apologise that we were unable to assist with your 8 bags, however we do have a trolley on request for guests to use. While I understand that our rooms, limited services and location may not suit every guest, we do hope you find another hotel that is better suited to your needs should you wish to not return. Should you wish to return, we seek your understanding in the limitations of this hotel as we (and the industry as a whole) recover from the lingering after-effects of the pandemic. We appreciate you sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.
