We had a wonderful stay at Novotel Xiamen Downtown while celebrating my husband’s birthday, and it was an experience that truly exceeded our expectations. Every details of all the service went above and beyond. As a newly opened hotel, everything feels fresh, modern, and very well maintained. The location is excellent, with a metro station within walking distance, making it very convenient to explore Xiamen. The hotel kindly upgraded us to a spacious Studio room for the birthday celebration. When we entered the room, we were delighted to find beautiful decorations, a birthday cake, and a thoughtful birthday card personally signed by the General Manager. These personal touches made the celebration incredibly special. The facilities were also impressive. Apart from a well-equipped gym, the hotel provides complimentary self-service laundry facilities, which are very convenient for longer stays. We were pleasantly surprised by the children’s activity areas, arcade games, and even VR gaming equipment — features that are rarely seen in hotels of this category. Breakfast was another highlight. The selection was generous, combining local Fujian specialties with international choices. The ingredients were fresh and of a high standard, with premium items such as prawns available, which was a pleasant surprise. Most importantly, the service was exceptional. Every staff member we met was friendly, professional, proactive, and genuinely caring. You could feel that the whole team worked together with passion and pride. Novotel may officially be a four-star hotel, but the hospitality we experienced was comparable to many five-star hotels. The facilities are excellent, but it is the people and their genuine care that truly make this hotel special. Thank you to the entire team for making my husband’s birthday so memorable. We will definitely return whenever we visit Xiamen again.

Hotel location, bed and breakfast is good. Front desk managers are friendly, helpful and professional. Overall, the experience with Novotel Xiamen was good. However there were also unpleasant experiences too. One night, both my wife and myself were asleep around 11pm, a man kept pressing the door bell and woke up my wife who was frightened as this was unexpected. The man had wanted to deliver a shaver. We understand later from the front desk there were some misunderstanding. Another unpleasant experience, was when I requested for a bottle cap opener and a cup of ice from the bar counter. A staff was not only not helpful but disrespectful and rude. I was told to request the bottle cap opener from my room. He handed me a cup of ice where I thanked him. When I thank him for the cup of ice, the staff didn't bother to look at me or say anything, he just turned and walked away. Being a Accor Platinum member, I have travelled in many countries and stayed in many hotels of similar or higher class as Novotel. I have never encounter such unpleasant experience. I hope next time when I stay in Novotel Xiamen, I will have a better experience with nicer memories.

The check in was late and I was offered another room to wait while they clean the room. Finally, I was allowed to check in at 2.30pm. The receptionist offered a plate of fruits as gesture of goodwill. Regret to share that the plate of fruits are rather disappointing. It consists of a pear, apple and 2 pieces of strawberries. It looks rather pathetic and unattractive. thanks
