arrived after a long car journey to a room booked for me and my son so we needed a room with twin beds. We also wanted ac due to the weather and we had been in 2 other hotels the previous nights without ac and were suffering from lack of sleep as a result. When we checked in, all was fine until we got to the room which was nice to look at but had a dreadful rotten food smell. Turns out there was a rotten banana in the bin, so we opened the window to air the room. We also noticed that the AC said 24c inside the room so we hit the minus botton to get the temperature down. We then went out for dinner and returned at 11pm to the hotel. The room was full of knats, everywhere. Walls covered, bedding covered, windows covered. It was no doubt as a result of leaving a window open to get the smell out of the room but perhaps the hotel should warn about these knats?? Also, the AC was not working, temp wouldn't go down from 24.5c despite every attempt to make it work. We asked the hotel manager to assist and she insisted it was working and that it would take a few minutes to kick in. She did say that the knats was unacceptable and that I should raise it with the director the next morning and that regretuflly there were no other rooms to move us to as the hotel was full. She offered breakfast as an apology. My son got up at 5am due to the heat and flies. I didn't sleep either. When I finally went down to the lobby for breakfast, i asked to speak with the director. He came to me and asked me if it was urgent and I said no, I just wish to lodge a complaint. His response was extremely rude and he said to me loudly that if what I wanted was a refund, then I would get a refund "that is what you want, isn't it?" I hadn't even had the opportunity to explain to him what happened. He then turned and stomped away. I was embarrassed, and humiliated in front of other guests. The manager said that the director was very stressed and isn't usually like that but the hotel had received a lot of evacues from regions caught up in the fires. I understand the stress and so on, but the director had no right to talk to me in this way. I will not visit a Mercure hotel again.

The hotel and staff were brilliant. Breakfast was very good . Bedroom was fairly cramped. There was quite ineffective glazing which allowed traffic noise and heat to spoil the atmosphere. Would I stay here again ? Probably no!

A very successful transition to one of the best Mercure hotels we have stayed at. Large, bright a. comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated. Professional, yet relaxed a. accommodating staff. Free, fenced parking. Dogs warmly welcomed. Unfortunately this hotel is not on our nornal route from Spain to Denmark, but we will surely stop by anytime possible. If one hotel should be the model-hotel for Mercure, this is the one.

Overall, the stay was okay. The staff was professional and the breakfast was good as well. However, in several areas you can clearly notice that the hotel is starting to show its age and that there is a lack of management attention to detail and proper oversight. This starts right at the entrance with the dead palm trees, which do not create a good first impression, and continues with many smaller issues — for example, windows that apparently already have moisture damage and have become so cloudy that you can barely look outside anymore, as well as a broken air conditioning system. The outdoor areas and the space behind the hotel were also not particularly inviting and further contributed to the impression that maintenance and overall attention to detail are lacking. Especially for a four-star hotel, I would have expected at least some proactive communication or perhaps complimentary water in the room. Instead, it was only at check-out, after I directly addressed the issue, that I was told they were already aware of the problem with the air conditioning and that, due to the holiday, they could not get anyone to repair it. However, even in France, emergency maintenance services generally exist despite public holidays, and I would expect a larger hotel to have access to some form of emergency support for issues such as a broken air conditioning system. Overall, wherever things are immediately visible on the surface, the hotel appears acceptable. But once you look a little closer, it becomes obvious that there is a lack of management attention and consistent oversight in many areas.

Loved the hotel but incredibly difficult to get to by car due to its location and traffic management. We had a noise in the room from a fan below which disturbed our sleep. But the hotel is nice, very clean and located in the centre of the city. Private parking is good but rather expensive given it’s the only viable options for those arriving by car.

Excellent, friendly welcome (apologies that I didn't note the member of staff's name) with useful information volunteered (including a very good restaurant reservation within easy walking distance). Very spacious room, quality bedding. Enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was great with a good range of local produce. Like the sustainability efforts as well such as recycling points on the landing of the floor.
