The hotel was nice but a few things that weren’t great. We paid £15 to park but there were no parking spaces so had to pay £9 to park elsewhere. I wanted their signature cocktail but was told they can’t do it, then gave me a million other cocktails that weren’t on the menu. Apparently the menu on the tables were very outdated. The service was very slow at the bar and restaurant. At breakfast we had to queue for ages to wait for a table, there were tables still not been cleared and dirty dishes at the bar. Also no room service available at all? Overall I wouldn’t rate our stay but I would come again if service improves.

Your comments regarding parking are completely understandable. Paying for onsite parking only to find no available spaces — and then having to pay again elsewhere — is frustrating and not the experience we want for our guests. We are reviewing how we monitor parking capacity to prevent this happening in future. I’m also sorry to hear about the issues at the bar. Being unable to order a signature cocktail, outdated menus on tables, and unclear alternatives all point to a lack of consistency and communication. Combined with slow service in both the bar and restaurant, this understandably had an impact on your stay. We will be addressing these points with the team to ensure guests receive timely service and accurate information. Your breakfast experience was also below standard. Having to queue for a long time, tables left uncleared, and dirty dishes at the bar are all signs that staffing and organisation need improvement. Thank you for highlighting this — it will be reviewed urgently with our morning team. Regarding room service, we apologise for the inconvenience. While not always available in every hotel, it should be clearly communicated so expectations are aligned. We will revisit how this is explained during booking and check‑in. Despite these frustrations, we do appreciate your comment that you would consider returning if service improves. I visited this hotel for couple of nights to see what Paignton is like because I am returning for a big celebration in May. The hotel is lovely and so are the staff, especially Amy on reception who looked after me so well. Rooms are exceptionally comfortable and the buffet breakfast has a lot to choose from. Quality ingredients are used and it was notable that eggs bigger than usual are beautifully fried. The restaurant at other times has a good range to choose from and I had a magnificent beef burger with superb chips. You can always judge a hotel's guests by whether the management expect the guests to pinch the clothes hangers...here you could if you wanted to, but I didn't. The hangers all have proper hooks on them. The rooms and bathrooms are well equipped with everything you might need including a good hairdryer and ironing equipment, plus a gigantic TV. Can't wait to come back in May.

A good position on the sea front . within easy reach of all amenities, bus, trains and pubs, Not forgetting some interesting independent shops.

Helpful staff but poor room design.

Unable to reach reception from garage door buzzer not working so had to walk around left wife in car as it was cold, arrived at reception at 5 min to 3 unable to book in as the room was not ready was offered a complimentary drink very good, at 3 a bus load of guests arrived filling reception unable to book in until after 4, forget to book Resturant so went early at 6 was told they were full with 8 people and unable to take any more until 8 we went out and came back at 7 45 to be told the Resturant was now closed so went back out to eat else where on gaining access to the room it was set out for one guest with 3 coat hangers etc this was put right after calling at reception the black lady serving behind the bar sneezed on her hand an just kept serving surely there should be some Antiseptic Gell to use for staff with the current events in the UK my wife carries some in her hand bag the hotel is very nice and in a prime position

I apologise that the garage door buzzer was not functioning, which caused inconvenience and left your wife waiting in the cold. Reliable access is essential, and we will have this investigated as a priority. I am also sorry that your room was not ready at 3pm and that the arrival of a large group caused further delays. While the complimentary drink was the right gesture, you should still have been able to check in at the expected time. Your experience with the restaurant was also far from ideal. Being turned away early, then later informed it had closed, is understandably frustrating — especially when plans had already been disrupted. This will be reviewed with our food and beverage team to ensure clearer communication and better guest management. Once in your room, finding it set up for only one guest was another avoidable oversight. I’m glad the team rectified it quickly, but it should have been correct from the start. I am particularly concerned by your comments about the member of staff sneezing into her hand and continuing service without sanitising. This falls significantly below our hygiene standards. We will reinforce proper health and safety protocols immediately to ensure this does not happen again. Despite the issues you faced, I’m pleased to hear that you found the hotel itself very nice and appreciated its prime location. Still, your experience should have been much smoother, and I sincerely apologise for the shortcomings you encountered. Thank you again for your constructive feedback. It will be used directly to improve our processes across reception, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage. I hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to deliver the high‑quality stay you should expect.
