Whilst the restaurant and reception appear to be new and modern, the rooms are awful. It's like a 60's style motel, very different from your usual Ibis hotel. Your front door opens out onto a shared balcony so you will always have people walking past your windows. The room itself is very run down in appearance, looks poorly maintained with damp patches on the wall, flaking paint and old electric fixtures. But it was clean and tidy. Quite close to a busy road so noisy when the windows are open. There's no air conditioning. Plus the hotel bar is located very close to the rooms and is open until midnight so your sleep is likely to be disturbed. I wouldn't stay here again, it seemed expensive for the quality of the room.

Main reception/bar area very clean and modern, thought good choice. Walkway to room could do with brightening up, room itself very dark, bed very uncomfortable, could be doing with redecorating. Sorry wouldn't recommend.

Filthy mucky rooms with paint missing off the walls , holes in the walls , filthy shower curtain , I paid £198 for 2 rooms tha were disgusting, never had this problem before as I’m an Accor member and use them all over Europe

This was the noisiest night I’ve ever spent in a hotel. It’s so close to the main road that the noise is incessant. Never staying again unless they can put in some serious sound proofing. On the plus side Carlos was great.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you were so badly disturbed by the road noise. It is unusual for it to disturb people overnight as it is a local access slip road and usually quietens considerably after 7pm. I will pass your comments to Carlos and thank you for that.

Did the job but would not stay again as traffic sounds too noisy for me. In fact I cancelled a future booking in favour of a better location and quieter area.

Benefits for being just off A38. Rooms are a bit drab, could do with repaint, new carpet etc. Reception and food areas much brighter, appear to have had refurbishment. Food reasonable, breakfast very good. Staff cheerful and helpful

Staff very friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant area is smart serving good food. Excellent breakfast choice with a very good cooked breakfast. Rooms are clean but tired/worn and need refurbishing. I could not get a good nights sleeps due to the constant traffic noise from the surrounding roads.

First of all, let me just say, the staff are brilliant. The problem with this Ibis is it is extremely dated. I felt like I was staying in bad university halls of residents. As Plymouth was busy due to the Firework Championship, we paid £119 for a room. The rooms are worse than a travelodge. I use these as a comparison as you can get a travelodge for £30. The room was extremely warm, this is on a cloudy august, not above 20 degrees outside. You can get a fan, please ask for one. Finally, the breakfast is nothing special. Why is a hash brown so soggy and pale? Don’t be fooled by the entrance, it looks nice when you first arrive. The rooms don’t reflect this. I have seen review replies saying the hotel is getting an upgrade next year, these seem to go back for years. Just upgrade it Ibis. Your customers deserve it and your staff deserve it.

Something out of a horror film

This was the worst hotel I have been at. It's extremely run down and in desperate need of a re-vamp. There was a dirty tissue, cigarette wrappers, clothes tags, questionable stains on the bed and walls and the bathroom needed a really deep clean. We told the receptionist/barmaid/waitress about our room and she confirmed that they're not supposed to be in this state but all of the rooms do need re-decorating. As it was late at night and we had just driven 5 and half hours, we stayed in the room. We woke up at 5am and left our key at reception. We will definitely not be returning.

The staff were very helpful & check in/check out was very efficient. The hotel was quiet and there were no disturbances, but the rooms could be better maintained. The sides were quite dusty and there were cobwebs under the bed/bedside tables and on the corners of the carpet, which were not removed on arrival or during the course of my week stay. I did not bring this to the hotels attention as this was just a place to stay while visiting family, but I’m sure this would have been resolved had I. The rooms require some refurbishment to match the standards of the reception/bar area, which is completed to a high standard.

Basic motel stay for sale 7 days

Ibis Plymouth is a very basic drive-in style of motel that are widely found in Australia and USA. This is at the lower-mid range of those if you are familiar with such motels. Yet the prices are high. Likely we hit the highest rates as it was the last week of August after a long Covid lockdown. All rooms were booked and demand was high. The rooms are small and dark on one side of the accommodation block and very sunny (and likely hot when the sun shines in summer) on the other side. We stayed on the dark shaded side. There is no airconditioning and heating is basic. The rooms are in need of refurbishment. However, we grew to like the place over the week as it is convenient and easy access. The reception/lounge/bar/restaurant is a separate modern, well-presented and comfortable building serving a small range of food and drink. Staff were enthusiastic and helpful.

The room was clean and spacious and the staff super helpful, the rooms décor could however benefit from updating and the bath had a conspicuous stain around the plug-hole. This said, the breakfast was A1.

Staff welcoming and efficient. Room excellent - recently refurbished and very clean. proved just what we wanted for a comfortable overnight stay. Managed to find hotel from directions given despite roadworks in the area. Breakfast very good.
