Very pleased with the hotel, accommodation, breakfast and location. The Spa is very good and amenities clean and tidy. Special mention for the staff that we had contact with, particularly those at breakfast; extremely friendly and helpful combined with good old fashioned service. Super!

Peroblems with rooms.

I checked in around 9.30 pm on 5th February and after dinner I entered the Privilege room around 10.30 pm. I found that the TV in the room was not working properly. So I requested another Privilege room and this time the TV worked but the sink in the bathroom was blocked. So I requested another Privilege room and none was available. So they got me a standard room. Josh and Ben were excellent and did everything possible to find me an appropriate room. If not for them this description would have been more severe.

Comfortable, good location, helpful staff. The only problem was car parking, car park not only full but many cars double parked making it difficult to even turn around to get out of the car park. The only alternative was expensive public car parks.

poor experience in the bar area, drink quality poor tried 2 different lagers both had a funny taste, bar staff looked as if they didnt get on. poor attitude from reception staff at check out

I had read many mixed reviews of your hotel on trip advisor and was nervous of staying. However, it was great. The room was nice. The shower was clean, nice toiletries, the bed was comfy. Yes the towels could be much bigger. Nice to have dressing gowns and slippers. Didn’t use the pool area or have breakfast.

This was our second stay at this hotel. We really like the location, the car parking and the breakfast. We didn't like all the emails before we arrived asking us to upgrade etc. The bathroom was very good with a powerful shower but the room décor was tired.

my wife and I are in hospitality. Our stay with you was very pleasant however on booking we were not given the full facts. The room was very good. (Bed , Pillows etc were excellent. We had dinner in the restaurant which leaves a lot to be desired. Would not dine with you again. ( Awful ) The staff at Breakfast were very good 1 elderly lady was a gem.

The receptionist was most helpful as I made an error on booking and she amended accordingly. We have stayed several times and have always been most satisfied. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. The Saturday bar meal was excellent and reasonable value for money. It was also encouraging to see that the stairway had been refurbished as I mentioned this last time. I hope the Mercure continues to upgrade its decor.

We had a really great time in Exeter and found the room very comfortable, excellent fascilities. Any issues we did have were sorted out quickly. Bed was very comfortable and we opted for the privaledge option which made swimming easier with robes and slippers plus the nespresso coffee was excellent and choice of milk. My only gripe would be that I was told I could park free because I'm a blue badge holder on the phone before our stay and when I got there found this was not the case - though there are lots of pay and display space right outside which were free with the badge.

Bedroom furniture needs updating. My friend had the handle of her drawers just left on the top. Bathrooms are great. Showers are powerful but need a slip mat in them. Downstairs area was really nicely done. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff, no direction given just shown to a table but the lady that served tea and coffee very pleasant.

Handy to city centre

All seems very nice, although our stay was in a “up graded” room for an extra £17 per night we did think that the rooms were a little “ Tired” looking. Breakfast was excellent but bar prices a little high.

I had a text message from mercury asking if I’d like to pay £20 pound for an early check in which I replied to ‘yes’. Unfortunately our room was not ready when we tried to check in at 1200 and when we did get into our room it was a double and not a twin. I must say that a Helen on reception was really helpful and kind and I’m sure it was an oversight.

Receptionist a bit curt, re parking at the hotel, given a twin room when requested a double. Shower ok but ropey towels that had seen better days all in all mediocre. Not impressed

The room was ok looking a bit tired & in need of refurbishing shortly. The towels, toiletries and toilet paper were poor quality for a 4* hotel. The room was not completely ready for guest occupation tv not ready & one of the lights in the bathroom not working properly. Just little niggles but they should not have been there.

It was a great location but the parking was awful - cars allowed to double park and no spaces after trying several attempts. The breakfast was pretty poor too - things unseasoned and clearly left to dry out for a long while.
