Celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on a DBB at this spa hotel as a silver member I was extremely disappointed. They had a burst pipe which had stopped aircon working and we had a letter on arrival and a lovely lady explained this from reception who had clearly had a hard week in the heatwave. I wish we had been told of this before we arrived but our room was absolutely fine and lovely. We went to the spa and on a Friday evening they chose to close the hot tub for cleaning?! The pool was nice a little cold but the gym looked run down with tape in the training benches which could easily be replaced. We went for dinner at 2030 and had the rudest bar staff when getting our drinks and were told if we want food the kitchen closes at 2100. The restaurant was shut and we had no table service even though the bar was empty! We ordered the beef and a burger and after quite a wait we got 2 beef - when we said we’d order a burger it was an inconvenience and an eye roll to make something else as the kitchen was shutting! I finished my main and got brought my desert as my husband got his main eventually - I would like a refund of the meal from our package and return of my 2k points which we had used towards the stay - it was not the stay we had hope for at all for our celebration. There is so much that needs looking at in this hotel - the steps from the external had barriers blocking it off and there’s a huge spike of overgrowth garden on the patio area which is dangerous. The breakfast was amazing though and the bed was comfy.

Loved the large hotel pool and lots of choice for breakfast including fresh fruit smoothie. A technical hitch with the ac but well managed by staff and still had a good nights sleep

Having booked expressly because I wanted a room with air-conditioning, I arrived to find that the air-conditioning was not working in many rooms in the hotel. The staff and management had known of this for some time, but didn't notify any of the guests in advance. Many guests were un-happy with this, including wedding parties. I am very disappointed that the hotel had not notified guests in advance that there was an issue. This feels deceitful - taking full costs for rooms which are not as advertised.

I completely understand your frustration, particularly as you chose to stay with us because of the air-conditioning facilities advertised. Unfortunately, we did experience an unexpected issue with the air-conditioning system affecting a number of rooms. We appreciate that this had a significant impact on the comfort of our guests, and I am sorry that this affected your stay. I also understand your concerns regarding communication. We recognise that guests would have appreciated advance notice of the issue where possible, and your comments have been shared with the hotel management team for review. We stayed here the night before the Exeter Uni open day. It was the perfect location, right in the town so we could do some shopping and have a nice meal beforehand. It's a lovely walk (uphill!) to the Uni and it gives you a great feel for the town itself. The hotel had a flood the week before we came so all of the air con was broken which meant the room was very very hot, but the Manager was very apologetic about it and refunded our parking fee. Breakfast was excellent, much better than your standard Premier Inn type breakfast which was a great start to the day Would definitely come back and recommend the hotel in general. Note that parking is first come first served and is £16 for 24 hrs
