Booked the weekend through Groupon. Was sold as a spa weekend break with complimentary parking. Unfortunately, according to the hotel neither was happening. We paid £15 for parking and was told the pool was out of action and the spa normally costs £10. We were also advised breakfast was till 11am, so got there at 10.15 and everyone and everything was gone. To be fair they brought out what was left, albeit cold. Having said that it’s a lovely hotel, in the centre of Exeter, so great location. Room was clean and spacious.

I have stayed in your hotel many times over the years but this time I was a little disappointed because the double bed you provided was below your standard. It consisted of two single mattresses pushed together but where the two mattresses met in the middle of the bed meant that both my wife and I felt this ridge in our backs all night, which was very uncomfortable. Plus the fact, one mattress was firm and the other was soft, so both of us were on different levels.

The hotel is wonderfully situated and this is the third time we have used it. The room was small but adequately equipped. However there are two issues that detracted from us enjoying our stay this time. The first is there doesn't appear to be any extraction system in the bathroom, this is minor but would make the experience better. The main complaint is that our room had a connection door to the adjacent room and the head of our bed was against this connecting wall. I assume the layout was similar in the adjacent room as there was not enough soundproofing and unfortunately for us the person in the adjacent room was a very load snorer which resulted in me not getting any sleep! Either change the layout of the rooms or soundproof the connecting door. When I reported this to the reception my comments were quickly dismissed with a "sorry about that". I was too tired to say anything else and we checked out. This was a shame as previous stays have been very good.
