Staying here for a few nights, excellent hotel, staff are amazing especially Lacy!! She has been running the place tonight, very smiley, chatty and professional to everyone. I would recommend this place and cheaper that prem inn and holiday inn.

A comfortable stay and helpful staff. We upgraded to a suite but the heating didn't work, which was disappointing. The showerhead needs descaling. Apart from that, happy with our stay.

Afternoon Tea

My partner and I came for an afternoon tea today as a prize we won in a raffle. My partner is both dairy and gluten free, so eating out is often a challenge, let alone having an afternoon tea. We were both pleasantly surprised, and had a super experience at the Mercure Southgate. There were lots of options to choose from, and all were delicious. A huge shout out goes to Tivi who was friendly, attentive and worked so hard to ensure our drinks were always full and that all our needs were met. She is great and a total asset! Thanks again.

Slumberland gem in central Exeter

A group of us had not been in an evening out in Exeter before, considering we only live 35 mins from the city itself. We chose to stay at the Southgate because of its central location to absolutely everything. We arrived, parking was simple with plenty of spaces. Our check in was warm friendly and pleasant. Although we weren’t told where our rooms were it was pretty easy to navigate to them with no fuss at all. On entry to our rooms we were all very happy with the size and everything within the room it’s self. We had 4 twin rooms which gave us plenty of room to sleep, talk and Potter around. We actually congregate in one room and it still felt spacious with the 8 of us in there! each room had a small box of chocolates with a hand written note which was not expected and a bottle of water (only one though) but as it’s complimentary you can’t complain. Bathrooms are great and quite modern. Sleeping was a dream I don’t think I had slept that heavy in a while the room quiet and dark the temp was perfect! Everyone commented on the pillows and how they hadn’t slept that great in ages. We didn’t have breakfast but we did make use of the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi and it was just what we needed after a night out. Again friendly service,, towel provided and really good showers for before and after your swim. Overall we will definitely be coming back and recommending to other friends.

Very disappointing!

The room was so small, the remote for the T. V didn’t work ! The air conditioning didn’t work. No furniture to put your clothes away . When we arrived being a silver member you automatically get a welcoming drink, I had to ask for this. The staff at breakfast were not helpful at all, then all you got was evil eyes looking at us.
