We landed late put into a very old room where the bed moved and very old bathroom. We had to move rooms and our room service got cold. Next night our bed broke. 2 lovely guys came and repaired it. The final night my bed again broke and just slept on my partner's side cramped all night. The room 1100 was next to a staff door that was constantly banging from 8am in the morning! I did complain on check out and all I got was the room service from the first night taken off bill... ABSOLUTE JOKE! We came for my birthday to rest and relax this was no way relaxing and was just exhausting!

Mixed accommodation a bit run down, air conditioning didn’t work, pool loungers broken it feels as if the facilities need some money spent on them. Staff at the pool, breakfast and cleaning were excellent they are your main asset.

Really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was wonderful and the room was good. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The only downside was the cost of food within the hotel. We decided after the first day to go outside for coffee and evenings meals as the cost in the hotel was far too expensive compared to other places

Nice Lobby and grounds

The hotel was recently renovated, and indeed the lobby and area around the pool are beautiful. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the rooms, as those are outdated and have to be re-done to be up to Sofitel standards.

The hotel itself is perfectly fine, and comparable with other five star resort hotels in tourist destinations around the world. My only cavils were with catering. Every one of the staff I met were friendly and charming. Sadly, however, the hotel F&B management appears to be incompetent (they’re certainly not visible). Whilst there are wonderful pastries for breakfast, there’s hardly any fresh fruit, and what there is (excluding oranges) isn’t ripe. Surprising, since there’s a souk brimming over with local fruit. Coffee service is a joke – whilst other chains have installed self-service quality coffee machines, this one relies on waiter service. You ask a waiter for a coffee, they have to walk a distance to the kitchen where (allegedly) there is only one barista for the whole restaurant, wait for a coffee to be made, then bring it back to the table – usually only half a cup, and almost always cold on arrival. When it’s busy, this can take twenty minutes, by which time I’ve had to order more from other waiters. The delays are worse for the outside pool restaurant and bar, where a beer took 31 minutes to arrive and a pizza a further 47. Not because of any staff shortage.

Long waits for coffee and food, along with the lack of fresh fruit, are certainly areas that need attention. I can see how the location being farther from the city center could also affect convenience for those who enjoy exploring on foot.
