Good overall. Only lost points on food. We decided to eat dinner at hotel one night and because we had two people with intolerances, couldn't eat from rather peculiar menu and had to pay E28 each for tapas. Disappointing for the price! Far too much re charge.

Nice hotel in a quieter area of Benidorm, very close to the beach, which is a real selling point. The design is lovely – modern, clean, and stylish – with plenty of comfortable seating areas both inside and outside. The rooms are excellent: spacious, clean, and well maintained. We had a deluxe room with a large terrace, which was great. Housekeeping is outstanding and one of the hotel’s strongest points. Overall, the staff are polite and helpful. My only real reservation concerns the buffet restaurant. The food selection is limited and disappointing. Much of it was dry, overcooked, and appeared to have been left out for some time. The dishes didn’t seem coordinated – there was little that naturally went together. The service in the buffet restaurant is also lacking. You are given a bottle of water on arrival and, unless you actively go to the bar to order and pay for drinks yourself, that is generally the last interaction you will have. It’s a shame, as I spoke to several guests who had eaten in the buffet once or twice before deciding to dine out for the remainder of their stay. That says a lot. I travelled as part of a group, including my mother who has mobility issues, so dining in the hotel would have been ideal for us. Instead, most of the group chose to eat out every evening. The hotel itself has a lot going for it, but the buffet experience would make me hesitate about staying again. Mercure can – and should – do better than this.
