Comfortable Stay with a Few Mixed Moments at Novotel Perth

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

trumpygold TripAdvisor review

As a returning guest, I found the Novotel Perth Murray Street to offer a generally pleasant experience with some notable highlights and a few areas for improvement. The check-in process was smooth, though I was disappointed by the lack of acknowledgment of my platinum status. No mention was made of potential upgrades or breakfast perks, though I was placed on the 20th floor with a good view. The absolute standout feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the bedding. The bed is quite simply one of the most comfortable I've encountered in a hotel, with an exceptional pillow-top mattress that ensures a restful night's sleep. Whoever designed the bedding deserves genuine praise. Breakfast was a bright spot during my stay. Served from early hours, the spread was very good, though it does get busy. My recommendation is to arrive early - around 6:30 am - to beat the rush. One slight irritation was the coffee policy: only one barista coffee is included with breakfast, with subsequent coffees charged separately. This approach feels somewhat penny-pinching and could be reconsidered. My primary disappointment came from the recreational facilities. Despite choosing the hotel partly for its steam room, I found it was out of order. The pool area, while present, was uninviting due to the number of children, and a frustrating lack of towels in both the pool and changing areas deterred me from using these facilities. The hotel was quite bustling, with several young families in residence, which might be a consideration for travelers seeking a quieter environment. The overall experience was a mixed bag of exceptional comfort and minor frustrations. The supremely comfortable bed nearly made up for the operational shortcomings. While the hotel provides a solid stay, there are clear opportunities for improvement in guest services and facility maintenance. For those considering this hotel, expect a comfortable night's sleep with some caveats. The Novotel Perth Murray Street delivers on basic comfort but falls short in some of the finer points of hospitality. It's a good option for travelers prioritising a restful bed and convenient location, but those seeking a truly luxurious experience might want to look elsewhere.

As a returning guest, I found the Novotel Perth Murray Street to offer a generally pleasant experience with some notable highlights and a few areas for improvement. The check-in process was smooth, though there was no acknowledgment of my loyalty and Platinum status. No mention was made of potential upgrades or breakfast perks, though I was placed on the 20th floor (with a view of the adjacent building). I had to confirm I had breakfast included. The absolute standout feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the bedding. A solid hotel with comfortable accommodation, though some operational improvements could elevate the guest experience.

Location for this hotel is good, close to the cbd facilities. Its also very close to a popular night club so exciting sounds of life can be heard early hours in the morning when the crowd are exiting the club. Rooms are functional and appreciate the nespresso and chromecast. Clean too. Brekkie has enough variety, including egg station. Need improvement: 1) premium checkin doesnt work. If you have a premium line, endorse it and open another regular checkin desk too. 2) breakfast checkin needs to be faster. One person using an ipad for a long time per guest is a torture. 3) daily coffee pod top up is lovely but bring regular coffee, not decaf. Twice i had to replace the pods at reception to get regular coffee. 4) rooms, didnt realise half of the hotel overlooks the apartment building next door. As a platinum member i was “upgraded” to a room that had direct view to someones bedroom just metres away and vice versa. After a room swap i was satisfied. 5) lifts need to be re programmed. 3 lifts stop at all levels and 3 only on upper levels. Those living on lower levels every time requested lifts from both sides. Many times i was coming down stopping on various lower levels only to find out that the lift on the other side had already picked up the callers. Think the call buttons on levels 2-12 need to be disabled on the high floor lift side.

Location is great but Saturday nights get loud with neighbouring clubs. Colourful characters hang around the outside of the hotel. My kids didn’t feel safe walking outside.
