We thought we were in Irwin st for our wedding anniversary (old tradition) but booked Hay street. The rooms are tired, gold member upgraded to a 3x1 metre balcony on the main st 6 floor. Couldn’t use the fridge as a polar bear was in the ice box. No where to put toiletries as cupboards sealed up. Ok, saving the trip was the effort of the staff. Pleasant and helpful but needing more training.

The room was dirty and stunk. Parking to check in was no space. Very over priced Was booked for 4 nights and checked out after 1 night

I was there for a charity event & when I returned to my room I was locked out (card wouldn't work) had to leave all my bags sitting in the hallway to go down to reception. I advised that I was locked out and the lady said yes a staff member did that. I am not sure why, it certainly wasn't to service the room because that wasn't done during my whole stay. The last night of my stay the people in the room next door was constantly in and out of the room and slammed the door which vibrated very loudly through my room. It was consistent and I went to bed early with a headache thinking that I would have a nice sleep in BUT NO... they were back at it again at 6.45am slamming the door 3 times within 15 minutes and then again within 1/2 hour. I was very agitated with this, picked up the phone to call reception and NO signal at all. Was a very disappointing stay considering I was giving you a 2nd go after my last visit wasn't great either. Unfortunately no plans to return any time soon.

Very confusing having another Mercure Hotel just down the road. On the first night I mistook it for mine and it took quite a lot of sorting out
