Not worth the cost. Very average experience for a very expensive hotel. Lack of welcome from staff and service standards are quite low. Will not be returning to this property even though I regularly stay at hotels in the chain. No priority welcome, no platinum level benefits given and the club lounge was under staffed and lacked any kind of service.

Thank you very much for upgrading in advance. However, I heard for the first time when I arrived at the hotel that the voucher was originally included in the room, but it would be adjusted from 600 Yuan to 300 Yuan on 1st Feb. due to hotel circumstances. I was embarrassed and disappointed to know after arriving at the hotel without any prior notice. And even after the check-in process, the front manager (Mr. Jeff as far as I remember) did not provide me any information in advance. I heard all the instructions and went up to the hotel room, and back to front ask to him "Waht time can I have breakfast?" "What is the breakfast menu?" He answered every time I asked them one by one. I think Manager Should instroduce to the customer in advance. In addition, I guess the restaurant chef may not go to work because of the Lunar New Year holiday, so the food was really terrible and I didn't want to go again.

Enjoy my stay and appreciate for the room upgrade to a nice suite. As a platinum member with Accor, I did stay in quite many Accor group hotels and frankly speaking, the overall experience with BJ Sofitel is exceeding my expectation. That's why I prepare to come back very soon to celebrate my birthday.

Manager Shen Pei was most helpful, looked after my stay thorough and attend to every detail. As a loyal Sofitel Beijing customer I have recommend so many of my friend to come stay at Sofitel Beijing. The only downside is the quality of breakfast is not up to the five star hotel quality. And the lobby bar closes way too early

Getting very localized

This is a great property that is well furnished with great facilities. Unfortunately, it's getting very localized. There are only 4 English TV stations and 3 of them were blocked. I hope you like HBO, or I hope you dont watch TV. The room service and other facilities menus are only scanned by WeChat and there is no English version. I realize that foreigners are traveling less in China but that wont last long. I hope they can get their act together. Also didn't help that they gave me someone else's pants when I had them cleaned. Luckily I saw that in time and they were able to find my pants. And the bar closes at 7PM. What kind of bar closes at 7PM? That's when bars are supposed to open. I hope this is a temporary COVID thing because it makes no sense.

Note that as you perfectly mentioned, some of the issues encountered are indeed related to Covid-19 , and it is of course temporary. Based on your feedback and lately guests communication we have consequently adjusted our operational hours for our Lobby Bar starting from this week. On another hand, the trend has been on reducing as much as possible printed materials in both rooms and public areas. This is one part of a larger Accor safety program (“AllSafe”) to provide to our guests with a safe environment. We also understand that proper communication must be guaranteed, and this is why we have some English menus available when required.
