Good stay, awesome hotel team but bad experience with the sales team

Our hotel at Novotel was really good in terms of location, facility and hotel staff - including the people at the front desk, restaurants, meeting spaces, catering, etc. Rooms are awesome, breakfast can improve a bit, but it was fine. However, it was difficult to work with the sales team when they book our room block throughout the process, they were not flexible at all, I believe the rate they gave us for a group was very expensive because I stayed one more night and the rate for me as an individual was $30 dollars less. On top of that, we booked more rooms and I understand that there was a contract but they could have helped us figure out the situation, like giving us a credit we could use into the future, or maybe do a concession on the contract. At the end, we brought a group of 50 rooms for 4 nights and booked 3 meeting spaces, and the sales team was charging us for photocopies, to place a piece of paper in the meetings room, for everything. We had to make some promo bags for the group, before they arrived, and it would have been super helpful to do them at the hotel, but they didn't allow us. Transporting the bags from another location was really hard. Honestly, it felt like they were working against us...unfortunately, this client, who's only expected to continue growing, will never stay at Novotel ever again because of that...I feel bad, because everyone else at the hotel was very very nice.

My overall stay was good. A few recommendations. Add hooks in the bathroom so that guest can hang clothing or towels. Also, explain in advance how the secure elevator key system works where you can only access your assigned floor. Great safety feature but limits easy interaction between a large group or family on multiple floors. My only disappointment was that I did not get my points because I booked my stay via American Express. I just found this out today from Accor.

I loved the consistency of the cleaning. I appreciated the layout of the hotel and all the amenities. The only annoying thing was the card reader on the elevator because you had to scan it every time

While the hotel is nice and food is tasty, I found service so poor. Ladies at the front desk were not kind nor empathetic, waiter service is slow and while at breakfast, they did not clean my table (there were dishes and glasses that other customer used and left). Bar service was slow as well.
